There's a lot more people here than when I started this page in September so I figured I'd re-introduce myself! (Thank you all for following my buisness page💕) My name is Olivia Hurley, formerly Olivia Akers-Goodwin to explain the name. I graduated from Mercy College in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in exercise science. From there I went straight to the Center for Natural Wellness School of Massage in Albany and graduated in 2018. I worked in massage straight out of school and have continued my education in topics such as aromatherapy, cupping, prenatal massage, oncology, and mental health effects. I originally wanted to be a physical therapist, but a myriad of reasons took me off of that path. However, I took my background of health education with me into the massage field. I now take a much more holistic approach, taking the whole body and mind into consideration when giving a massage. I've always had a hobby for tea making and herbal topicals as well, so including these hobbies into my products and treats only made sense for my buisness. My goals are to always make you feel as comfortable as possible and cater to all of your senses to aid you in relaxation and healing. My goal when opening my office was to create a space that can truly be customized for each and every person. I hope someday I'll be able to completely customize a service for you and your needs. 💕

Playing too much Baldurs Gate lately? This has been me the past few days too... We all have hobbies, jobs, and activities that might be putting our posture in not so great positions. Massage is a great way to relieve stress on muscles and joints effected by poor posture, and can even help with returning it to proper posture over time but steps taken durring these activities help prevent pain even faster. Studies are even beginning to show that you don't necessarily need to have the "perfect" posture, but that movement is key to keeping our posture from slipping. Changing your position often, using standing desks or walking mats, walking around with a headset while on calls, and stretching throughout the day can all be effective in helping your posture and preventing that pain. But if you find yourself still in need of a massage after a big game binge, feel free to book with me to help you regain some of that mobility and ease the pain.

Some of you have been asking about what happens if there is incliment weather or other emergencies that would stop you from being able to come in so I'd like to post it here! If for any reason the weather or other emergency made it so you cannot make it to your scheduled appointment please let me know as soon as possible so that I can get you rescheduled. There will be no cancelation fee for events like this. I always prefer you stay as safe and stress free as possible. In the case that I choose to close the office for the day I will contact you to reschedule your appointment as soon as I can. :) I hope everyone enjoys a happy and safe winter, and if you have any further questions please feel free to reach out.

Why do I always offer tea when you come into my office for a massage? Well, the easiest answer would just be that I have always loved tea and I love to share it with others. Tea has always been a drink to share with others in traditional, social, or casual situations. A warm cup of tea can be very comforting to some people as it brings back memories of comforting or friendly situations with loved ones. I'm a huge believer that relaxation is best met with all of the senses together, taste being one of them. Having some tea before your massage may just help you relax just a little bit more once it's combined with the feeling of the massage, visual ambiance of the office, sound of the soft music, and blissful aroma of essential oils. Plus hydration is extremely important, especially when receiving a massage. If you've gotten a massage before I'm sure the LMT has told you to stay hydrated afterwards. But why? Hydration levels are critical to circulation of the blood and lymphatic fluid, and how it transports things like oxygen and cellular waste. Massage, much like exercise can affect lymph flow and the release of cellular waste from the muscles thus making hydration extra important for these situations. Why not make hydration tasty? Not to mention many herbal teas have been shown to offer various health benefits like enhancing sleep with chamomile or aiding digestion with licorice. Next time you're in for a massage, I'd love to share a cup of tea with you. Cheers!
