We made the difficult decision not to accept insurance for several reasons, primarily linked to the complexities and challenges of the current insurance-based healthcare system:

Insurance billing and processing can be intricate and time-consuming for medical practices, requiring dedicated staff to manage claims, appeals, and reimbursements. The resulting administrative costs can be substantial, often exceeding the financial benefits of accepting insurance, especially as reimbursement rates have significantly declined.

Low reimbursement rates from insurance providers have made it challenging for a solo dermatology practice to operate sustainably within insurance networks. Additionally, insurance coverage policies for dermatological services can be complex and inconsistent, leading to confusion for both providers and patients.

By focusing on direct-pay or concierge models, where visits range from $75 to $150, we can offer more personalized care, reduce administrative overhead, less control by insurance companies and enhance the quality of patient care. The good news is you can still use your insurance for blood tests , pathology , medications and everything else !
