How To Be Well in the Digital Age 📲✨

As technology continues to permeate so many aspects of our lives, it is crucial to support our health and well-being with practices that counter the effects of technology on our bodies and minds.

Prolonged exposure to non-native EMFs and blue light has raised concerns about their effects on human health, and the overstimulation of the digital age along with the prevalence of virtual interactions instead of in-person communication has diminished our well-being in many ways.

To cultivate a relationship with technology that supports our health, well-being, cognition, and imagination, we must adopt mindful practices and set intentional boundaries.

Here are some ways we can strive for more balance with our technological engagements and our well-being:

✅ Create a technology-free zone in our homes 🏡❌📱to encourage mindful disconnection and relaxation.

✅ Take regular breaks from screen time ⏲️🧘‍♂️ to stretch, breathe, and refocus our attention inward.

✅ Use technology in a manner that honors our natural rhythms. 🌞🌚This can be achieved by incorporating lighting that mimics natural light cycles, taking regular breaks to reduce screen time, and managing electromagnetic field (EMF) exposure

✅ Participate in regular outdoor activities 🌳🚶‍♀️to reconnect and coregulate with nature and reduce the sensory overload from digital devices.

✅ Gather in person. 👫👭 Balance digital interactions with real-world experiences to nurture our mental health.

✅ Use technology in a way that stimulates our cognitive functions and imagination, 🧠✨ rather than just for data collection or distraction.

✅ Choose how and how much you show up on social media.📲💬 (((The people in your network may notice you being genuine, mindful, and in your imagination!)))

ONE BIG REASON YOU NEED TO LOVE YOURSELF IS SAFETY.

Imagine you cannot take care of yourself...

And the person who is supposed to be taking care of you doesn’t seem to love you. Sometimes isn’t even that nice to you. Tends to put other people’s needs before yours...

Would you feel SAFE to depend on them to fairly advocate for you? Would you feel SAFE at all?

NO WAY.

But right now, as a resourced adult, the person taking care of you is YOU.

YOU ARE IN CHARGE OF TAKING CARE OF YOU.

If you are familiar with principles like Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs or the common chakra system, you know that SAFETY is foundational. There’s no space for creativity, joy, expression, love, or inspiration without it. Safety is a basic need that must be met in order for a being to flourish.

Take a moment.

Close your eyes.

Find your breath.

And say to yourself,

“I love myself.”

"I trust myself."

Do those statements feel true in your body?

If the answer is “no,” you can understand why this is crucial to change if you want to express your potential and appreciate life (not to mention, heal your nervous system).
