Today I’m thinking about my kids. About the future.

They don’t understand court dates or hearings.
They just know mom leaves early sometimes and comes home another day exhausted.

They know the rhythm of the barn.
They know fresh milk in the fridge.
They know the animals, helping with chores, and markets.

What they don’t quite yet understand is that their family farm is in an ongoing legal battle just for this life to exist.

But one day they will.

One day they’ll understand that we stood up — not just for our farm — but for small farms across the country and everyone’s right to food freedom.

We’ve raised $5,330 toward our $10,000 goal for legal representation and ongoing court expenses.

That number represents people who care about the next generation of farmers. About their health and possibilities.

We still have $4,670 to go.

If you believe all our children deserve a future where small farms still exist…

This is an emergency meeting TONIGHT!!! Please come if you SUPPORT OUR LOCAL FARMS AND RANCHES! These new rules would make sustainable agriculture impossible on a small scale. PLEASE SPEAK OUT AGAINST THIS INJUSTICE!!! This is another way of having the rich be richer and the poor, poorer and being further removed from our local food sources!!! These new rules, fines, and the costs of permits would effectively force the sale of our small farms and ranches in our county! Please help our local food sources stay local! Horse agricultural goes hand-in-hand with food agriculture. Sometimes horses are even used to plow fields for more eco-friendly farming practices and horse manure, after it’s composted, is added back into the soil to eliminate the need for toxic chemicals in our land!
There is a push by Kitsap County and their stockholders to push out small farms and ranches so that they can add more housing! What’s worse is it’s under the guise of making our rural area stay wild and it sounds amazing and something that farmers and ranchers agree with, but in the small print, they make it impossible for small farmers to be able to afford to stay in business! Everyone please help!!! Please come, the right to have horses on a small farm is being threatened with erasure!! Only the extremely wealthy would be able to afford horses if the permits and rules put forth by Kitsap Co., to benefit the stakeholders, were to become law!!!! Equestrian facilities, large and especially small, have volunteered for decades in this community to help with PTSD services for veterans, physically disabled, and those with special needs. These new laws would make these services to the community virtually impossible to financially sustain! Please have your voices be heard, in overwhelming numbers, bring anyone and everyone you can to help your local farms and ranches!!! If you can wear something Horse related or red, that would be amazing!

This year, we have 75 exhibitors with 116 animals getting ready for the Kitsap Fair and Stampede! These kids have worked hard all year to prep their animals, and they are ready to sell! You can fill your freezer with beef, goat, lamb, pork, chicken, turkey, and rabbit. All while supporting local kids who are learning how to invest in the future of our food.

Come out to the auction on Saturday, August 23rd, at 2 pm and show these kids how important local, fresh, and quality-raised meat is to you.

😳😳😳ULTRAPROCESSED FOODS (UPFs) HARM ADULT AND INFANT HEALTH: "increased consumption of UPFs in adults is linked to higher risks of all-cause mortality, cardiovascular disease-related mortality, obesity, type II diabetes, and adverse mental health.... UPFs may [also] disrupt the gut microbiome in adults by reducing the overall diversity and promoting a proinflammatory environment, which can lead to gut diseases, such as inflammatory bowel syndrome or colorectal cancer."

One of the most incredible substances the human race has created thus far is being slowly ruined by climate change.

A 2021 study compared grass-fed vs. corn-fed cows and found that while corn-fed cows produced the same amount of milk with less methane, their milk lacked the rich flavor and omega-3s of grass-fed milk. Researchers could literally taste the difference - like comparing gourmet charcuterie to Lunchables. Since cows are essentially walking fermentation tanks, their diet directly impacts milk quality at a chemical level.

Something to ponder…

Sorry this is long, but it reinforces what a lot of us have been saying. The most dangerous animal rights activists have Senator or Representative in front of their names.
So when people say, “Why are you so hard on vegans?” Honestly I’m not. I personally believe it is a religion. I feel they are free to practice veganism to their hearts content.

What I care about is their attempt to force their beliefs on others.
Meet New York State Senator Jabari Brisport. He has proposed Senate Bill 6530 which will limit the number of cows a dairy is allowed to have. His bill, if passed will affect farms all over rural New York. Guess where Jabari is from and where he represents??? New York City. Not to mention his personal beliefs seem to be in a real conflict of interest in governing for the people.

He is a devout vegan and believes that attacking farms represents social justice.
This is why we must stay vigilant. The claim is that this bill only applies to CAFOs which is incorrect. It will apply to the 95% of family owned dairies that are located in New York because it is based on numbers alone as a marker for both welfare and environmental impact. Even though NY Dairies already follow regs that are much stricter than federal CAFO regs.
This is why we cannot give people a seat at the Ag table who seek our destruction. This is why the regenerative movement that likes to cast their lots in with animal rights groups need to stop the division because you are next. It isn’t about welfare it is about ideology that wants to see an end to animal agriculture period. So as Winston Churchill said, “Stop feeding the crocodile”.

This is incrementalism. This is how they work. They can’t outright ban cows overnight, but they can start with limits.
New York Farm Bureau is putting up a good fight and I think they will win this round. We need to support those fighting in the legislative process on our behalf and support others who are advocating with facts.
Also, before anyone attacks him for being a democrat (political division is social media today), there are several democrats that are opposing his bill. A farmers right to farm and a consumers right to consume should not be defined by party affiliation, ever.

We are rooting for you New York Dairy Farmers and NYFB!
