Timing is everything. ⏱️

Did you know most experts recommend waiting until after you’ve completed radiation or until your surgical site is fully healed (usually 6–8 weeks) before a permanent fitting?

In the meantime, we offer soft, seamless "initial" garments to keep you comfortable and protected. Not sure where you are in the process? Reach out! We’re here to guide you through every stage.

Did you know that breast prostheses and mastectomy bras are legally required to be covered by most insurance plans?

Under the Women’s Health and Cancer Rights Act (WHCRA), if your plan covers a mastectomy, it must also cover your external prostheses and the bras needed to hold them.

Standard coverage typically includes:
✔️ A new silicone prosthesis every 2 years.
✔️ 2 to 4 mastectomy bras every year.
✔️ Foam or fabric forms for the immediate post-op period.

We know insurance paperwork is the last thing you want to deal with right now. Our team handles the insurance, so you can focus entirely on your recovery!

For many breast cancer survivors, the journey doesn't end when the surgery is over. Because of lymph node removal and radiation, the body’s "drainage system" can become compromised. This leads to Lymphedema—a chronic swelling that most commonly affects the arm, chest, or hand.

Early detection is the key to managing lymphedema. Watch for subtle signs like a "heavy" feeling in your arm or chest, jewelry that suddenly feels snug, or changes in skin texture.

At Nurturing Expressions, we partner with experts to provide the compression gear and education you need to stay active and comfortable. Awareness is power—share this to help a fellow survivor know what to look for. 💙
