Collecting your food waste and keeping it out of landfill is an excellent way to be kind to Mother Nature. A friend gave me a clay compost bin and when it finally broke I found this one on Amazon.... comes with a lid that isn't pictured... so convenient when preparing meals to throw your scraps before taking it outside to compost. I recommend.

This is my Kitchen Crop Seed Sprouter. Will grow fresh sprouts in four days. The sprouter is available on Amazon for $25 and the seeds are also available on Amazon. If you love sprouts, this investment will save you a lot of dough over the years. I recommend.

Zucchini Lasagne.... made with zucchini strips instead of pasta strips. Recipe is on downshiftology.com. I replaced the beef with ground turkey and added a layer of spinach because why not. Served with a green salad. The males all had seconds.

Zucchini noodles with pesto sauce. You can buy premade zucchini noodles frozen although it's pricey. I recommend making your own with fresh zucchini and a spiralizer. Mine is hand held and easy to use, clean and store.

Want a healthier mayo?...how about homemade avocado mayo... Here's what's in the jar: 1 avocado, 1 cup vegtable oil, 1/2 cup Aquafaba or egg liquid egg whites, 1 teaspoon vinegar, 1 teaspoon mustard, salt and pepper... Mix and then blend with immersion blender. Update: needs lemon juice and more salt.

Avocado toast for the family this morning... Wheat bread toasted with Earth Balance Margarine topped with avocado smear, a sauteed egg/s and Trader Joe's Everything but the Bagel Sesame Seasoning Blend (credit Pam Washburn for the tip).... It all goes great...and packs in a punch of good fat and protein.

It is with a heavy heart that we are announcing the coming closure of Sagewood Vines. We plan to make no more than three more appearances at the Poway Farmer's Market. Over the past two years, we have sold 3,500 jars of jam and the cook is now at her boiling point. Going forward she will be focusing her time on losing many Covid pounds, increasing aerobic health and spending time with the family. We want to thank all of our supporters including friends, customers and market managers who have been nothing less than wonderful. All of the business profit which we have saved will go toward the purchase of a very environmentally responsible plug-in hybrid car... and what makes Mother Nature happy makes us happy. Sagewood Vines' social media pages will be dedicated to healthy living. We hope you stick around. 💛
