My friend Jodi sent me these beautiful flowers over the weekend from her garden. Little did she know that I was having a difficult day. The flowers and the thought of her sending them elevated me in ways I can’t convey in writing.

With the practice of Intentional living, small acts of kindness, such as giving someone flowers or a hug, are very important in creating and maintaining positive social connections. Our emotional well-being depends on this. I am reminded that gratitude is one of the greatest gifts you can offer yourself. What you focus on grows. So when you focus on the good things happening in your life, you bring more of them to you. A good tip is to be specific in what you are grateful for.

Gratitude and small acts of kindness easily make the receiver’s day wonderful but also increase the giver’s sense of fulfillment and connection. By spending time in her garden, harvesting flowers, and sending them through my daughter, Jodi is practicing intentional living. No matter how small. Please take the time to elevate someone's mood today especially yours by choosing to focus on gratitude for something you may consider small.

With the nice weather we had in Ohio over the weekend, I wanted to remind everyone to be mindful when picking your sunscreen this spring & summer.

Sunlight is an instant mood booster and a major source of vitamin D. Overexposure to harmful UV radiation from the sun can be damaging to the skin. 💚☀️
Be kind to your body!
☀️Avoid the sun during peak hours
🧥Wear sun protective clothing
🧴Use mineral sunscreen- Zinc oxide & Titanium oxide
🧪Avoid chemical sunscreen - Oxybenzone & Avobenzone

As Black History Month comes to a calendar “end”, consider ways to support Black owned businesses year round. When you support Black-owned businesses, you are building your community by investing in inclusion.

Honored to serve on this panel by Kegler Brown Hill + Ritter, a firm that not only highlights black owned businesses like mine during Black History Month but are a force of economic good, supporting Black owned businesses year round.

You too can do your part beyond February by becoming a consistent client, or mentoring and creating opportunities for black entrepreneurs. You will increase the business visibility and representation in today’s ever-evolving landscape.

We all struggle- Choose kindness always

Spent last Friday with these beautiful ladies who have made significant contributions to several buckeye pharmacists careers ❤️.

My heart is full when I get the chance to give back to The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy.

I love and used this quote during my talk 🦋
“Don’t waste your time chasing butterflies. Mend your garden, and the butterflies will come.”-Mario Quintana

Happy Valentine’s Day! ❤️
Spread some love to your own heart by remembering these 9 ways to take care of it 🫀

Don’t be another statistic

🫀 Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men, women, and people of most racial and ethnic groups in the United States.

🫀 One person dies every 33 seconds in the United States from cardiovascular disease.
About 695,000 people in the United States died from heart disease in 2021—that’s 1 in every 5 deaths.

🫀 Heart disease costs the United States about $239.9 billion each year from 2018 to 2019. This includes the cost of health care services, medicines, and lost productivity due to death.

Happy National Pharmacist Day to all my colleagues, students and mentors. As they play a key role in the healthcare system far beyond dispensing medications. In addition to educating our community, more and more pharmacists are empowering people to be better health advocates for themselves.
Just add to the caption!

This 2024 National Pharmacist Day is dedicated to Ronni D’Agostino who is our pharmacy manager extraordinaire at Powell Pharmacy. Words can’t express how grateful we are for her kindness, clinical aptitude and dedication.

At Powell Pharmacy we are encouraging everyone to pay more attention to preventive medicine and intentionality in our wellness journey.

Virtual hugs to all the amazing pharmacists 🥰🥰

Should I continue to remind you of these truths or I should mind my business?

Food is medicine!
Movement is medicine!
Positive social connections is a foundational pillar of health.

Whatever your answer is, you are correct. My 8 week Revitalize community had the pleasure of listening to our dietitian Colleen Bush and our fitness trainer Jen Shaver over the weekend.

Our 7-day Revive detox kicked off yesterday and day one fast is behind us. I will be happily held accountable for the reduced brain fog, reduced fatigue, better gut health and the movement towards optimal weight that will be achieved.

That’s my version of starting 2024 on the right foot and truly minding my business.

Happy New Year❤️2024

I hope you intentionally fit in rest, relaxation and reconnection with loved ones come 2024. Take it easy, small consistent steps in the direction of your dreams ❤️

No amount of kale is going to counterbalance the poisonous effect of chronic stress on the body. In 2024 I’ll be the friend to remind you of the pillars of health. We will start with positive social connections ❤️

Spend time with people you love. Stay away from people who bring you down. Loneliness isn’t just a state of mind. Science has shown time and again how it affects more than mood, leaving a lasting imprint on our mental and physical health. The effects of loneliness have even been matched to smoking 15 ci******es a day. Taking steps to increase our daily connections and join communities then, is one of the best things we can do to protect and improve our health. Finding opportunities to interact and reasons to connect, in person, can reduce stress and even our risk of cardiovascular events, while increasing hope and longevity.

Throw off some of the self-consciousness that tends to come with being a ‘grown up’ and just have some simple, silly, energetic fun. I am grateful for my family, chosen family and community. Reach out to someone -who is trying to hold it all together, has lost a loved one, or is struggling in anyway. I promise it will also fill your heart.

We all Struggle, Choose Kindness Always.

Even the grinch has decided to choose kindness in 2024❤️
