FDA recalls can be scary, especially when it’s our kids’ medicine!

Rest assured, this system is designed to keep you and your family safe & sound.

This morning the FDA issued a Class II recall (low chance of serious health consequences) on nearly 90,000 bottles of children’s ibuprofen after discovering in some bottles the presence of a gel-like mass and black particles. Check your bottles of children’s oral liquid ibuprofen to make sure your medication is safe. Affected bottles were manufactured by Taro Pharmaceuticals USA Inc. and have lot numbers 7261973A or 7261974A with an expiration date of 01/31/2027.

If you find that you own one of the recalled bottles do not panic! Simply throw away the affected bottle and go purchase a new one. Pharmacies will have been notified of this recall, and will have taken steps to ensure that any affected products have been removed from sale.

If you or your child have consumed any medication from an affected bottle, monitor for any new health concerns and contact a trusted healthcare provider if something seems wrong. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us here at Powell Pharmacy to speak to a pharmacist regarding any questions or concerns regarding this issue!

Acne isn’t just a teenage thing and it’s rarely just about your skin ✨
Breakouts in teens and adults are often driven by what’s happening inside the body: hormones, inflammation, gut health, stress, and nutrient status. That’s why quick fixes fall short and why targeted supplements can make a real difference 🤍

✨ How supplements can support clearer skin:
• Zinc – supports oil balance, immune health, and healing
• Omega-3s – help calm inflammation
• Vitamin D – supports immune and skin regulation
• Probiotics – support gut health (which directly impacts skin)

Teen acne is often linked to puberty-related hormone shifts, while adult acne is more commonly tied to stress, blood sugar balance, gut health, and ongoing inflammation especially along the jawline and chin. Different drivers = different support.
Supplements aren’t magic, but when paired with nourishing food, stress support, good sleep, and gentle skincare, they can be powerful tools in a more sustainable acne plan 🌿

Clearer skin starts with understanding what your body is asking for.

Why sustained-release (SR) progesterone?

SR formulations are designed to release progesterone slowly and steadily over time, helping maintain more consistent hormone levels.
Compared to immediate-release progesterone, SR may:

Reduce peaks and crashes
Provide longer symptom coverage
Support more stable sleep through the night

Be better tolerated for mood and anxiety symptoms
Immediate-release progesterone hits fast and for some women, that means strong sedation early on, followed by wearing off too quickly.
Sustained-release = smoother, steadier support.
This is especially helpful for women navigating:
• Perimenopause
• Menopause
• Sleep disruption
• Mood fluctuations
Hormone care isn’t one-size-fits-all.
Compounding allows progesterone to be tailored to your body, your symptoms, and your goals.

Shock the Gut, Not Yourself

Fiber should be a daily non-negotiable, yet most Americans are missing the mark.

Recommended daily fiber:
• Women — ~25 g
• Men — ~38 g

Average American intake: about 10–16 g/day — less than half what most people need.
Some data show Americans consume only 58% of recommended fiber per 1,000 calories consumed.

>90% of women and ~97% of men don’t meet fiber goals.
That gap affects digestion, metabolic balance, blood sugar, cholesterol, and even mood.
Get mindful about fiber because your gut deserves better.

Fun (but important) cholesterol fact:

Fiber, especially soluble fiber: helps lower LDL (“bad”) cholesterol by binding bile acids in the gut, forcing your body to use cholesterol to make more. Translation?
More fiber = less circulating LDL.
