Every journey earthside has its own sacred path and story. For Maggie Aster (Margaret) Wion she chose a walk through wildflowers! When babies pass by their expected arrival dates we at times use a walk in elevation to get them motivated and Maggie was all about this! 🌸 I think mountains and wildflowers will always be part of the sweet path she walks with her brother, Carter (6) and mom and dad Lindsay and Morgan!
She hurried into their arms at home on July 23, 2025, at 4:13 pm weighing 6 pounds, 9 ounces and measuring 19 inches.
She is also loved by her grandparents Michael and Susan Traylor of El Paso, Texas, grandmother Carol Raile and Aunt Tanya Raile of Cody.
Her nature is patient and kind. Keep bringing the good things in life, and the wildflowers little Maggie Aster! 🌸
PS. For those who are word lovers, like me, look up Aster - Maggie has got lots of beauty pronounced on her sweet little head!

This family…this family! ♥️
They fill my heart, they are the motivation for midwifery work. The birth of Rory Rockwell on July 14, 2025, at 3:09 a.m. was strong and victorious! He was welcomed into SO MUCH LOVE by Andre and Josie Parsons and no big sister could love a brother more than his big sister Hazel! “Strong and victorious” doesn’t mean simple, it means anticipating birth and all things surrounding birth can include ups and downs, challenges and opportunities for growth. This family is up to it! Rory, your 8 lbs. 2 oz., 21 1/2 inches has arrived earthside with a family that is going to be by your side for one incredible ride!! (And a lot of walks 😉) ♥️ Love you Parsons!

She weighed 7 lb. 15 oz. and was 21 inches long (nice work, momma!). Her grandparents are Ryan and Grace Johnson (Eagan, MN) Lisa Sandoval (Green Bay, WI) and Mark Lewins (Pulaski, WI). Great grandparents Marlene and Rigoberto Sandoval (Green Bay, WI) and Phyllis Johnson (Eden Prairie, MN).
It’s truly a privilege to witness a couple grow a family. Flo is one beautiful little lady! 💖

‼️ Pertussis, or whooping cough, cases are sharply rising in the U.S., with reports 6x higher at the end of 2024 vs. 2023.

While many cases are mild, I’ve also seen very serious cases of pertussis requiring hospitalization—especially in infants. This is why early recognition, prevention, and care are so important.

As a family doc fully trained in pediatrics, I thought you might like more about this from me.

Who Is Affected?

Infants under 1 year old are at the highest risk for severe disease, complications, and hospitalization due to their developing immune systems.
Vaccinated children, babies, and adults can still contract pertussis because immunity from the vaccine fades over time.
Unvaccinated individuals remain at risk of more severe illness.
Older children and adults with mild, lingering coughs can unknowingly spread pertussis, putting infants and others at risk.

Key Symptoms to Watch For

Early signs: Runny nose, mild fever, and persistent cough.
Classic symptom: Coughing fits that may include a “whooping” sound or lead to difficulty breathing, especially in young children.
In infants: Gagging, vomiting, or pauses in breathing (apnea).

What Can You Do?

🤒 Recognize symptoms early and take action—especially in infants.
🧑‍⚕️ Seek medical care if symptoms persist or worsen.
🌿 Learn natural symptom relief strategies and tips to keep your child comfortable .

Resources:

🌿My children's course Healthy All Year course where I have an extensive discussion of pertussis, natural approaches, remedies, warning signs, and when to see the doctor. See my website under courses.

Reflecting today. 🤍
2024 was a unique year for me as a midwife. I had the privilege of helping 32 families with their births. 10🩷girls, 22🩵boys. I’ve watched women and their families grow through their birth experiences and perhaps it’s been my growth year, too. I saw more complications and found gratitude in collaboration with care for more families this last year than in all of my years of midwifery combined. Thank you mommas and families for trusting me with your care, then trusting others to help. 12 years, 383 babies. Hoping for a healthy, kind 2025. ✨ Perhaps catching a beautiful, healthy 1st baby in the county for the year is just the start we need. ✨

Congratulations to Kjelden and Aili George! They absolutely rose to every moment of challenge and growth together as they welcomed basically all 9 pounds of Logan Andrew George into their arms.
They certainly have a village of support that came and went as needed to hold space for this little man born December 29th, 2024, at 5:18 a.m. That first-time journey into motherhood is one sacred endeavor. It is generally not easy, many things in life that are most worthwhile are also not easy. This family rose to the occasion, we are so proud of you! ✨

I believe birth is one of the greatest opportunities for growth, for everyone involved. The Workman family grew on October 11, 2024 at 3:22 pm, grew to include Aaron James “AJ”. Welcomed by Brian and Calli, AJ weighed 8 pounds, 12 ounces, and was 21 1/2 inches long. What a sweet miracle. Thanks for trusting us to grow with you! We love you! 🩵

The Jones family welcomed a fine little farmer on October 9, 2024, at 11:59 am, just in time for lunch. Mak and Heather birthed Ethan Darringer into their home weighing 8 pounds 12 ounces and already measuring 21 inches. Ethan’s brother, Sawyer (2) is ready to show him the ropes of farm life.
We are both thrilled and privileged to be with this remarkable family. The strength, the trust, the wisdom, the love. This little man has one blessed start. We love you!
