October is National Dental Hygiene Month, and we couldn’t let it pass without celebrating our incredible dental team and welcoming Dr. Spears, our new dentist, and Aja, our new dental assistant, to the Free Clinic of Powhatan!

Their dedication to patient care and passion for community health make them both wonderful additions to our team. We’re grateful to have them serving our neighbors and helping us continue our mission of providing quality care. 💙

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a reminder that early detection saves lives.

Through our GYN services and partnership for mammogram screenings, one of our patients was recently diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer during a routine exam. Thanks to early detection and timely care, she underwent a double mastectomy with reconstruction and is now responding well to treatment.

Stories like hers underscore the life-saving importance of accessible preventive care—and the power of community partnerships that make it possible. 💙

Big news! The Free Clinic of Powhatan will now accept Medicaid starting November 1st!

This change helps us expand our mission of providing compassionate, high-quality care to even more of our neighbors.

Uninsured patients will always remain at the heart of our work—this is simply another way we’re strengthening our community’s healthcare safety net. 💙

Our first Good Medicine 5K & One-Mile Fun Walk was a huge success thanks to everyone who participated, volunteered, donated, or cheered us on! 💙

We are so thankful for the Farm Bureau Board of Directors for their generous partnership to our nutrition program. With their donation we are able to add a deep freezer to our emergency food pantry!

This gift provides a place to store protein-rich foods like fish, vegetables, and more to keep promoting nutrition management and aid to patients.

Community partnerships are the reason we can help our neighbors stay healthy!

Still thinking of how our community showed up in every way! Last week marked our very first Good Medicine 5K & One-Mile Fun Walk, and what a kick-off it was. Many have told us they can't wait for next year!

With 240 runners and walkers hitting the course to 30+ amazing volunteers and countless generous donors cheering them on, the spirit of the Clinic was everywhere.
