I have some exciting news to share - I now have an office space in Portland in the State Theatre Building! I currently have open availability Monday mornings until 1pm and Thursday evenings starting at 2pm!

Also, an insurance update - I am now in network with Medicare, MaineCare, Anthem, Aetna, UHC, and (new!) Cigna, and Martin’s Point - Harvard Pilgrim and UMR are in process!

My clinical focus is on adults, and specifically working with folks dealing with chronic serious illness (and loved ones and caregivers) and those experiencing grief and loss. Please reach out if you think we’d be a good fit!

Sadly, the lillies are gone from my butterfly garden, but while summer is waning, my practice continues to grow! At least can now see my pup when she wanders in there 👀

I have some slots available for weekly or less frequent sessions, and am now IN-NETWORK WITH CIGNA!

In addition to submitting out-of-network claims on behalf of my clients (no more paying upfront and getting reimbursed!), I am now in-network with the following insurances:

This summer has been really up and down with the weather, and I’ve been glad to have the unconditional love of my pup as we’ve had a combination of outdoor adventures and days huddled inside hiding from rain. For these and many other reasons, it may not have been the summer we’ve expected.

I have availability for new clients, and am accepting some new insurances as well!

I’m accepting new patients and expanding the insurances I accept!

I am now in-network with United Medicare Advantage and am in the final stages of contracting with Aetna and Anthem, accepting all of their plans.

In addition, I am in-network with Traditional / “straight” Medicare, and MaineCare.

I can also see patients with other insurances who pay out of pocket and provide documentation to be reimbursed from their insurance via Out of Network benefits - typically those with a PPO plan.

I primarily serve adults and particularly older adults living with chronic or serious illness by telehealth or home visits when appropriate. I do see adults of all ages over 25, and am also licensed in Massachusetts.

Hello and welcome! My name is Max Louison-Semrow, and I am a psychotherapist in private practice practicing out of my home Pownal, Maine. I see my clients via telehealth and also offer home visits when appropriate.

As a born Mainer who has worked in our local healthcare system, I understand the needs of our residents and see this practice as my contribution to the greater health system and my community. I specialize in chronic and serious illness, grief, and transitions.

I operate on a very small scale, and I work hard to understand every aspect of the business so I can answer all of your questions and work with you to find a best way to meet and receive services. I make this choice consciously every day, as I believe it is the best way to provide sensitive and individualized care.
