Letha Louise (Watkins) Coomer

Letha Louise (Watkins) Coomer of Prague, Oklahoma, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, July 13, 2025, surrounded by her family at the age of 92. It is a tender coincidence that nine years earlier, on this very date, her brother James Watkins also passed away.

Louise was born on August 21, 1932, in Paden, Oklahoma, to Lee Roy Watkins and Effi e Nye (Harwell) Watkins. She graduated from Center View High School in 1950, where she enjoyed playing basketball and was honored as the basketball queen.

On August 29, 1950, Louise married the love of her life, Harley Lavon Coomer. Together they built a home and raised two daughters, Ladona June and Cynthia Anette. Louise and Lavon shared a love for sports and took great joy in watching their grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in Red Devil activities.

Louise is survived by her brother, Max Watkins; her daughters, Ladona Johnson and husband Kenneth, and Cynthia Coomer and fi ancé Randy Blemmel. She is also survived by grandchildren Velvet and Will Hand, David and Monica Johnson, and Kelly and Marshall Dillon, all of Prague; as well as great-grandchildren Kennedy Gregory and Jason Childers, Tanner Gregory, Mallori Reno, Maylee Reno, Harley Johnson, Hailey Johnson, Ashlyn Hand, Ethan Hand, Lakeyn Hand, Mekko Hand, Avery Hand, and Maggie Hand. Services for Louise will be held on Thursday, July 17, at 10 a.m. at Parks Brothers Funeral Home, with Brother Tim Emmons, Brother Kevin Wehrli, and Brother Nathan Howard offi ciating. Interment will follow at Prague Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague

Jimmie Dale Coker

Jimmie Dale Coker Jr. of Prague, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was 69 years old.

Jimmie was born on May 24, 1956, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Jimmie Dale Coker Sr. and Sonya Nanette (Hancock) Coker. He graduated from Del City High School in 1975. A gifted athlete, he played football at Southwestern Oklahoma State University and East Central University before pursuing education at OSU Institute of Technology in Okmulgee, where he earned his Mechanical Contracting License.

A hardworking and dedicated provider, Jimmie spent many years as a self-employed mechanical contractor before beginning a 23-year career with ExxonMobil. He was deeply respected in his field and known for his strong work ethic and quiet integrity.

On January 26, 1986, he married the love of his life, Robin Dale Dawson. Together, they built a home in Prague and raised three daughters—Tara Dale, Cayla Dale, and Corbin Dale—who became his greatest pride. That pride only grew as he welcomed and cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchild.

Jimmie lived by the values of humility and kindness. He often reminded those he loved, “Stay humble¨ and ¨we have nothing but good problems.”

He never met a stranger. He was the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back to someone in need, never asking for recognition, only doing what was right. He could light up any room he walked in with his smile. He had a special gift for making those around him feel valued. He did not do anything halfway. He was able to do anything or fix anything he put his mind to. He was an avid supporter of his children and grandchildren’s many activities—from sports to livestock shows—cheering them on with love and encouragement.

Above all, he always put God first. He looked forward to taking his grandkids to church every Wednesday. He took pride in maintaining the grounds of his beloved church, Paden First Baptist, where he faithfully served as a deacon.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his mother, Sonya Nanette Coker, and his brother, Cary Russell Coker.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Robin Dale Coker; his father, Jimmie Dale Coker Sr.; his daughters, Tara Dale Pickard and husband Brandon, Cayla Dale Blocker and husband Lance, and Corbin Dale McClendon and husband Daelen; eight grandchildren, Kylie Morse, Katie Pickard, Natalie Blocker, Hattie Blocker, Claire Blocker, Ruby McClendon, Abram McClendon, and Shiloh McClendon; and one great-grandchild, Dannie Morse. He also leaves behind a host of extended family and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

Congratulations Peter. We hope you had a great week at Boys State. It is a great program and we are grateful to have the opportunity to support our young people.

Peter Hang represented Paden Public School at this year's Oklahoma American Legion Boys State held at Rogers State College. Peter is the son of Steve Hang and See Xiong.

Boys State is an intensive week-long discovery of the essence of civic duty, citizenship, leadership, and understanding of the American way of life from a participatory perspective. Delegates will not only learn how the American System of government and politics works theoretically, but also in a hands-on laboratory setting.

Boys State is sponsored by the American Legion of Oklahoma. Delegates to Boys State have just completed their junior year of high school and have been selected by their local American Legion Post as a representative of the best of their community. Boys State was established in the 1930s as a way to counter anti-American activity during the pre-World War II era. It was so successful as a citizenship training activity that is remains the premier program of its type in the United States. It has been described as, and is “The week that shapes a lifetime”.

A special thanks to Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague for sponsoring Peter to be a part of this learning opportunity. Also, another special thank you to Jack Vaughn, Prague American Legion, for being such an instrumental ambassador for the Boys State Program of Oklahoma.
