LifeStreams, LLC

LifeStreams, LLC Who We Are...
Known as leaders in the field of rehabilitative therapies and other related services.

The entire idea behind our company is to allow you to live your life...your way.

* We have all worked in various areas of social services for over 30 years, and in that time have been involved with several states and several companies. But, we always thought, “we can do this better!” We found that many companies and agencies make things too difficult, are not well-trained in their field, and

lose sight of putting the person first.

* We are Cognitive/Behavioral Therapists, Social Workers, Licensed Professional Counselors certified in brain injury and also clinical addiction, and seasoned field staff.

* We focus on a wholistic approach. We believe that a person is more that just the sum of their parts, and likewise a peron’s life is more than just one situation or time period of their life. To live a happy fulfilling life, we all need to seek a healthy lifestyle…physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually...whatever each of those mean to you. Only then will we truly reach our personal goals, and maintain our independence and lessen dependence on supports later in life.

* In fact, that is the inspiration for our company’s name

“LifeSteams”…

We attended the recent Kansas Robert G. (BOB) Bethell Joint Committee on Home and Community-Based Services and KanCare Oversight meetings held July 14–15. These sessions continue to be a vital space for shaping the future of Medicaid and HCBS services in Kansas.

This week’s discussions included:
🔹 Updates on the implementation of 2025 reimbursement rate increases
🔹 Side-by-side comparisons of KanCare 2.0 vs. 3.0
🔹 Ongoing conversations about service expansion and funding for providers
🔹 A continued focus on transparency, data, and outcomes

At LifeStreams, we remain committed to advocating for access to meaningful rehabilitation and long-term supports for individuals with brain injuries through the Brain Injury Waiver. We believe in the ongoing potential for recovery—and the importance of a system that supports it.

👉 Stay connected with us for updates, insights, and ways you can help improve the system!

🧠 May is Stroke Awareness Month — and Stroke Is a Brain Injury.

Every year, nearly 800,000 people in the U.S. have a stroke. What many don’t realize is that stroke is one of the leading causes of acquired brain injury.

➡️ A stroke disrupts blood flow to the brain, often resulting in lasting cognitive, emotional, and physical effects — just like other forms of brain injury.

That’s why stroke survivors need access to brain injury-informed support:
✔️ Cognitive rehab
✔️ Behavioral health services
✔️ Community reintegration
✔️ Education for families and caregivers

📣 Stroke is a brain injury. Let’s treat it that way. And work towards prevention.

Visit the CDC website for more information on preventing stroke:

🌟We had an amazing time attending the Brain Injury Association of Missouri’s Survivor and Family Seminar in Kansas City on April 26, 2025!🌟

There were several great topics and presenters including LifeStreams CEO JD Kemp, who presented on “Building Understanding for Better Communication”. J.D. shared valuable strategies to help survivors, families, and professionals connect more effectively and compassionately. ✨

Thank you to BIA-MO for hosting such an impactful event and to everyone who stopped by to visit with us! 💚

April is Month, and LifeStreams is proud to be part of a powerful collaboration that’s making a real impact!

We’re honored to be part of this effort to increase awareness of brain injury in the criminal legal system and build stronger, more resilient communities.

Learn more about the Second Chance Act here: https://nationalreentryresourcecenter.org

This April, we are celebrating Month with the National Reentry Resource Center & CSG Justice Center – because second chances lead to stronger communities.

Did you know that recidivism has decreased 23% since the Second Chance Act (SCA) was enacted in 2008! Reentry programs are making a difference in lives and communities.

NASHIA is honored to be a Second Chance Act Grant recipient. We are proud to partner with Minds Matter LLC, LifeStreams, LLC, Washburn University, and the Wyandotte County Detention Center on a project to provide training, brain injury screening, psychoeducation and resource facilitation to support the reentry process for individuals in Wyandotte County Kansas. The group held a kick off meeting for the three year project in April. We are thankful to the many NASHIA members and partners whose work has paved the way for increased awareness of brain injury within the criminal legal system.
