She worked 50–60 hours a week for four years.
Little to no vacation.
Always available.
Always delivering.
Two weeks ago, she was laid off.

Yesterday she told me, “I’m exhausted, frustrated & ****ing pi**ed off. I gave everything. And I still lost my job.”

If you’ve ever been laid off after over-functioning for years, you know this feeling.

It’s not just job loss.
It’s identity shock.
Adrenal fatigue.
Brain fog.
Emotional whiplash.

And then comes the pressure:
“Update your resume.”
“Start networking.”
“Apply everywhere.”
“Don’t lose momentum.”

But here’s what I told her:
💥 You can NOT attract a healthy next chapter when you are running on fumes.
💥 You don’t make aligned decisions when your nervous system is fried.
💥 You don’t interview well when you’re depleted.
💥 You don’t negotiate confidently when you feel disposable.

She has three months of severance.
She wants to take one week to rest.

And yet… she feels guilty.
Guilty for resting.
After years of overgiving.

Let me say this clearly:
💖 Rest is not falling behind.
💖 Rest is strategic.

You are not “burnt toast.”
You are a high-capacity human who hasn’t been replenished.

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do after a layoff is:
✨ Sleep, Sleep, Sleep
✨ Move your body. STRETCH
✨ Get outside. Be in nature
✨ Allow your brain calm down
✨ Remember your job is WHAT you do NOT WHO you are!

A regulated nervous system is a career advantage.
The next opportunity will come from clarity. Not panic.

If you’re navigating burnout or a layoff right now, this is your permission slip:
💖 Pause
💖 Restore
💖 Then rise

You deserve to show up to your next chapter as your whole self. Not your exhausted self.

Let’s rebuild your energy and your career from a place of strength. Not survival.

If you’ve ever wondered why vision boards work, it’s not luck, glitter, or manifestation slogans. It’s your brain.

When you combine a vision board with a word of the year, something powerful happens, not just emotionally, but neurologically.

Here’s why the two together are a mindset amplifier

🧠 Vision boards activate your brain’s visual system.
Your brain processes images 60,000x faster than words.
When you place visual cues where you can see them daily, you’re stimulating the occipital cortex and strengthening neural pathways related to those goals.

🧠 Images speak directly to the subconscious.
Your subconscious doesn’t think in paragraphs, it thinks in pictures.
A vision board becomes a gentle but consistent nudge to your nervous system:
“This is where we’re headed.”

🧠 Your Word of the Year activates the RAS (reticular activating system) otherwise known as Your internal filter.
That single word becomes the lens your brain uses to decide what matters.
Choose Courage, and suddenly you notice opportunities to speak up.
Choose Joy, and your brain begins scanning for it.

🧠 Together, they create identity-level change.
Images + a single guiding word =
✔ clarity
✔ emotional resonance
✔ neural reinforcement
✔ identity alignment

Not just what you want but WHO you are becoming.
✨ Your vision board sets the destination.
✨ Your word becomes the compass.

If you want to create both with clarity, intention, and brain-based strategy

If your holiday season comes with more uncertainty than celebration — layoffs, change, or simply knowing you’re ready for something better — you’re not alone, and you don’t have to wait for January to begin.

That is not a wish. This is your plan.

As a Career Coach, I guide you through:

• building a compelling professional brand
• polishing interviews with confidence & ease
• preparing for salary + offer negotiations

Because this season isn’t just about giving, it’s also about receiving what you deserve.

✨ Don’t wait for January. Your job search momentum starts today. ✨
December isn’t a pause. It’s a strategic runway.

If you’re craving a new role in the new year, here are the high-impact steps you can start right now, December 5, so you’re walking into January with interviews already lined up:

📌 1. Refresh Your Resume & LinkedIn
Update accomplishments, numbers, promotions, certifications.
Make sure your headline and About section clearly communicate the role you want next, not just the one you have now.

📌 2. Reconnect With Your Network
Send 10 “holiday reconnect” messages.
Wish them well, share what you’re exploring next, and let them know you’re open to conversations in January. Warm connections open the fastest doors.

📌 3. Clarify Your Target
No more “I’ll take anything.”
Choose 2–3 roles and industries.
When you’re specific, people know how to help you.

📌 4. Identify Companies You Admire
Make a list of 20.
Follow their updates, engage with posts, and learn their language.
Companies notice active, thoughtful candidates.

📌 5. Tidy Your Digital Presence
Google your name.
Clean up old posts, adjust privacy settings, and curate your professional brand.

📌 6. Prepare Your Story
Why now? What’s next? What strengths are you ready to bring forward?
Having your narrative polished gives you confidence and clarity when calls start rolling in.

📌 7. Schedule Time in Your Calendar
Block 10-15 hours each week in December for job-search prep.
When January hits, you won’t be starting — you’ll be continuing.

✨ Here’s the truth:
The job market ramps up fast in January.
If you use December to prepare, align, and connect, you’ll be weeks ahead of everyone who waits for the “perfect time.”

Start today, December 5.

Your future self will be so glad you did.

If you need a boost, guidance, or a partner in this next step, I’d love to support you. Please message me sarahucoach@gmail.com. I'm here to help you.

🌟 Coaching isn’t magic… but sometimes it feels like it🌟
Yesterday, I met with a client whose job search is gaining momentum:
✅ She’s waiting on a job offer after a powerful 2nd interview
✅ She’s exploring the possibility of creating her own role
✅ She has two other applications moving forward
As we wrapped up, she looked at me and said:
“Sarah, are you a magician?”
I laughed and asked, “Why?”
She smiled, held up her phone, and said: “That other company I told you about? They just messaged me. They want to talk ASAP.”

This isn’t magic
✨ It’s the power of coaching, clarity, and aligned action.
When you stay focused, believe in yourself, and keep showing up, opportunities begin to appear—sometimes faster than you imagined.
✨ Momentum builds confidence.
✨ Confidence attracts opportunities.
✨ And opportunities open doors to your next chapter.

Ready to create magic in your job search? Send me a message. I’d love to help.

I learned at a young age that you are your brand.

It’s not just what you say—it’s how you show up. And it follows you, like a shadow.

I learned this early. I’m the second of five daughters and grew up in Urbandale, Iowa—a suburb of Des Moines but it felt like a big, small town.

Especially, with the last name of Uchytil.

My dad, who was a renowned science teacher at neighboring West Des Moines Valley and my mom who ran a well-known daycare, we were known. We are the Uchytil’s.

I wasn’t just Sarah. I was Mr. Uchytil’s daughter, Liz’s daughter, Alice’s sister, Theresa’s sister, Rose’s sister, Christi’s sister or simply One of the Uchytil girls.

When I moved to Ames, Iowa to attend Iowa State University, I became Cyclone Sarah. Alpha Phi Sarah. Sarah Uchytil— Iowa State Family of the Year.

Fast forward 25 years. Now I am deeply rooted in Kansas City. But just yesterday, I was reminded that your brand is like your shadow—it follows you wherever you go.

At a networking luncheon, I introduced myself to a gentleman walking in next to me:

“Hi, I’m Sarah Uchytil.”
He looked at me and said, “You worked at Sprint.”
“Yes - in Finance.”
“You went to Iowa State, right?”
“Yes!”

Though I couldn’t place him, he remembered me from another part of Sprint Finance and an Iowa State event—nearly 20 years ago.

That moment stuck with me.

Whether we realize it or not, people remember how we made them feel.

They remember our energy, our involvement, our passion, our presence.

You are your brand. And your brand lives in every interaction, every introduction, every room—whether you remember it or not.

What impression is your shadow leaving behind?

This Memorial Day weekend, we paused to honor and remember those who are no longer with us.

For me, it brought back memories of beloved friends and family—people I can no longer call, hear, or hug. Their absence is deeply felt… but their legacy still speaks.

When the sadness washes over me and the tears start to come, I hear one voice in my mind—clear and unmistakable:

"Stop crying, Uchytil.
Go live your amazing life.
It’s freaking short.
Make the most of every single day."

So I’m passing that message on to you:

What can you say YES to this week?

Are you holding yourself back? Telling yourself there are only a few acceptable paths?

Because here’s the truth:

When you limit your choices, you limit your life.

This week, give yourself permission to expand.
✅ Say yes to something new
✅ Stretch beyond your routine
✅ Feel more. Risk more.
✅ Live more—fully, richly, passionately.

You weren’t made to play small.
You’re here to live in the fullness of life.
So, let’s stop sitting on the sidelines.
Let’s start saying yes. 💥

Do you know how your team members truly like to be appreciated?

Feeling disrespected and unappreciated consistently ranks among the top five reasons employees leave their jobs. I see this firsthand—most of my career coaching clients come to me because they feel undervalued, stressed, and burned out. The root cause? A lack of appreciation.

Understanding and speaking your team’s appreciation language is a powerful way to boost morale, engagement, and retention.

Looking for a meaningful team-building experience? Let’s create a culture of appreciation together. Message me—I’d love to facilitate this session for your team!
