I feel like Iāve been talking about Halloween with my kids since September! They are very excited to dress up and while they are a little young to totally understand whatās going on Iām sure once they realize chocolate is involved it will become their new favorite holiday.
Hereās some things Iām planning on doing the day of Halloween:
š making other foods fun!
š not speaking negatively about candy. Itās a fun, sometimes food we can eat along with a nutrient dense diet.
š you can still raise intuitive eaters and have boundaries around candy! They are too young to really understand the nuance of nutrition so you need to help them out with that. For example, providing a protein rich dinner that is filling beforehand!
š you know your child best! Some might feel ok with letting them have their fill that night, others might want to check with how tummies are feeling periodically (esp with so much sensory input going on connection to fullness can be harder).

School lunch ideas! š”
Itās that time of year again, hereās some things to consider:
- When looking at your kiddos whole day and good goal is no more than 25g of added sugar.
- even though we are conscious of added sugars and setting boundaries around it we donāt have to demonize it for kids. Aka āsugar is horrible for youā kids are such concrete thinkers itās easy to run with that message.
- focus on what nutrition you can add to their days.
- looks for no/low sugar options. For example peanut butters are a common item that might have added sugar. My go to is the Kirkland brand with no added sugar and just a bit of salt.

Some of our summer favs:
1. Ilona Maher. Part of the US womenās Rugby team that just captured bronze and we want to be her best friend. Just go watch all her reels . She takes up space in the most incredible way.
2. Purely Elizabeth Granola. Itās a lower sugar granola option that is delicious and comes in lots of different flavors. Your yogurt needs this upgrade!
3. Silicone popsicle molds. Our fav recipe is just greek yogurt, blueberries, banana, splash of orange juice blended and poured in the molds! A delicious way to get in more fruit and some protein in the greek yogurt.
4. Lunch Bots lunch containers. Perfect for lunch or even snacks while you are on your summer adventures.
