Healthy eating fuels kids’ bodies and minds, helping them focus, remember and stay energized throughout the school day. A balanced lunch can make a big difference in learning and mood.
When packing a school lunch, aim for:
Whole grains – bread, wraps, crackers, brown rice, quinoa
Protein – lean meats, cheese, yogurt, nuts, beans
Fruits & veggies – fresh, dried or canned for variety and color
Drinks – water or milk to hydrate and build strong bones
Limit foods high in added sugar, unhealthy fats, or caffeine, which can affect focus and energy.
Tips for success:
• Involve kids in choosing and preparing their lunches.
• Stick with familiar foods they enjoy.
• Offer a variety so they can choose what to eat and snack on the rest later.
Think of lunch as more than just a meal, it’s fuel for the brain, support for healthy growth and a way to keep kids engaged and ready to learn all day.
