The Opportunity Center's Mission of '...creating opportunities for persons with disabilities to develop their full potential in society' is accomplished in many ways.

Our Community Job Developer, Kim, works with the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation to assist job seekers with disabilities in finding their place and purpose in our community. From working with potential employers in job development to supporting clients in finding the right position for their specific strengths and talents, assisting them with new hire training and paperwork, and job coaching and helping them become comfortable and productive in their new role, Kim is a true asset to our organization, our community, and those we serve.

We congratulate Chris on his accomplishments in the workplace and look forward to watching him flourish in his role.

Unity participants enjoy this program immensely!

For the past year, a monthly cultural program at the Driftless Area Wetlands Centre in Marquette has been forging connections for people with memory loss and their caregivers, bringing people together for an hour of learning, fun and friendship.

SPARK! is held the third Tuesday of each month, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., at the Driftless Area Wetlands Centre, located at 509 U.S. Highway 18, in Marquette. Wetlands Centre Director Alicia Mullarkey leads the programs with Pam Kul-Berg, a dementia care specialist of ADRC of Eagle Country, which serves Crawford and Richland counties. Some months, there are guest presenters.

“It’s a creative, hands-on experience for people, and not just somebody presenting,” shared Mullarkey. “We’re focusing on using all your senses and meeting people where they’re at. What do we smell? What do we see? What do we touch? How does this make you feel?”
