Big News!
Opportunity Center, Southwest Opportunities Center in Lancaster, and La Crosse based Aptiv are joining together to become one organization. We are excited to work together and merge our common missions. The process is just beginning, and the next few months will be focused on getting to know each other, collaborating, and combining our strengths. By joining forces, we’ll be able to grow, improve, and support one another in new ways. This is a big step forward that will help us build a stronger, more connected network of disability services across southwest Wisconsin!
Although it won’t be official until early 2026, we are still excited to share this great news with you!

If you have ever thought about contacting your Senators about the proposed Medicaid cuts, now is the time. Please use your voice for those who can't.

When policymakers and others say people with disabilities and caregivers won't be impacted by the proposed nearly trillion dollars in cuts to Medicaid over the next decade: the last time Medicaid was cuts by the feds, I/DD waivers (Family Care, IRIS) and home health (personal care, supportive home care) were among the top cuts by states. Wisconsin's cuts to long-term care programs averaged 14% cuts per person. The Senate could vote on the House bill with even more cuts as early as tomorrow. Call your members of Congress to tell them how Medicaid impacts you. You can use this graph and the language from the non-partisan Congressional budget office that says:

"CBO expects that in response to those provisions (cuts to Medicaid), states would modify their Medicaid or state-funded insurance programs to curtail their spending by reducing provider payment rates, reducing the scope or amount of optional services, and reducing Medicaid enrollment."
