Congratulations to our team at CIS in Zachary on reaching the milestone of 1,000 cardiac PET-CT scans! We are grateful to our patients for trusting us with their care and to our dedicated team for carrying out our mission to provide our patients the highest quality cardiovascular care available.

A PET-CT scan is a state-of-the-art imaging test that gives physicians a highly detailed look at your heart. It combines two powerful technologies - one that shows how well your heart muscle is functioning and another that provides clear, precise images of your heart’s structure - offering a deeper understanding of heart health.

At just 30 years old, Deeonka Pierson of New Orleans could barely walk for five minutes without pain. What started as tingling in her toes turned into constant, unbearable leg pain that put her life on hold.

After meeting with Dr. Satish Gadi, interventional cardiologist and vascular specialist at Cardiovascular Institute of the South in Prairieville and Baton Rouge, Deeonka learned the real cause - chronic venous insufficiency, a condition in which the veins in the legs cannot properly return blood to the heart.

Through a series of minimally invasive vein procedures, Dr. Gadi restored healthy circulation and helped Deeonka find lasting relief.

“Two days after, I noticed I could walk long distances without pain,” Deeonka says. “Before, I couldn’t walk five minutes without hurting. I feel good now - I can actually walk without pain.”

You could have vein disease and not even know it. Visit cardio.com to schedule your appointment today.

For the fourth year in a row, CIS has earned Gold level recognition from the American Heart Association (AHA) as part of the Check. Change. Control. Cholesterol™ Initiative. This recognition honors CIS for improving quality care through the awareness, detection, and management of high cholesterol by empowering patients with evidence-based strategies and tools. Our data demonstrated exceptional success in ensuring that at-risk patients receive appropriate cholesterol-lowering treatment.

High cholesterol is one of the major controllable risk factors for coronary heart disease, heart attack, and stroke, yet only half of the 94 million adults with elevated cholesterol are appropriately managing their condition. For the seventh year in a row, CIS has earned Gold Plus recognition as part of the Target: BP™ initiative - a national collaboration of the American Heart Association and American Medical Association aimed at reducing the number of Americans who suffer from heart attacks and strokes by prioritizing hypertension (high blood pressure) control.

CIS earned this recognition for excellence in blood pressure management, with controlled blood pressure in more than 85% of hypertensive adult patients in Louisiana and 86% in Mississippi - well above the target of 70%.

We’re proud to be only one of five facilities in Louisiana and only one of four in Mississippi to receive this distinction!
