Why Wednesday
Natalie Laredo- CNA
"My inspiration to work in skilled nursing came from watching my own family members grow older and need more assistance. Seeing their journey sparked a passion in me to be there for others during such an important chapter of life.
What I find most rewarding is the connection I build with the residents. One of my most memorable experiences was with a resident who had dementia. We had a heartfelt conversation about fishing, and days later, he remembered it. That moment of connection was powerful—it reminded me that even when memories fade, the feelings we share can still shine through.
Every day, I strive to bring joy to the people I care for. I know I’m making a positive impact not just by meeting their needs, but by forming real relationships. And I’m never alone in that effort—what I love most about the team I work with is the camaraderie. We don’t just come in to work—we laugh, we support each other, and we make the residents feel like family.
The facility’s mission resonates deeply with my personal values. It emphasizes dignity, honoring each resident’s preferences, and focusing on their overall well-being. That alignment is important to me—it makes my work feel meaningful.
Skilled nursing has changed how I see healthcare. It’s shown me that compassion, kindness, and teamwork aren’t optional—they’re essential. I’ve also discovered so many opportunities for career growth, specialization, and skill-building here, and I’m excited to continue my journey in nursing.
What keeps me going is simple: the smiles on my residents’ faces. Knowing they love and trust me makes every day worthwhile."
