Tick Season is Here!
As we enjoy the warmer weather and spend more time outdoors, it's important to know that tick season is upon us. These tiny creatures can carry serious diseases, so here are a few tips to help keep you and your loved ones safe:
1. Wear Protective Clothing: Light-colored clothing makes it easier to spot ticks. Long sleeves and pants tucked into socks can provide a barrier.
2. Use Tick Repellent: Apply a tick repellent on your skin and clothing.
3. Stay on Trails: Ticks are commonly found in grassy, brushy, or wooded areas. You can stick to well-worn paths when hiking or walking.
4. Check for Ticks: After spending time outdoors, thoroughly check your body and pets for ticks. Pay special attention to hidden areas like underarms, behind ears, and between legs.
5. Remove Ticks Properly: Use fine-tipped tweezers to grasp the tick as close to the skin's surface as possible. Pull upward with steady, even pressure to avoid leaving mouthparts in the skin.
6. Shower After Outdoor Activities: Showering within two hours of coming indoors can help wash off unattached ticks.
Enjoy outdoor activities safely this tick season! Stay vigilant and take these simple precautions to protect yourself and your family.
Stay safe and happy exploring!
