✨ Mental Health Moment ✨
📍 Sharlot Hall Museum | Prescott, AZ

Volunteering isn’t just about giving back—it’s also about finding purpose. 💚

Even the smallest act of service can create a ripple effect: a kind word, a helping hand, a listening ear, or simply showing up for someone who needs support.

When we connect with others through service, we often discover something powerful in return—meaning, belonging, and fulfillment.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Polara Health Honors Kathy Bashor with 2026 Polara Health Star Award - Recognizing a lifetime of advocacy, leadership, and lived-experience impact in Arizona’s behavioral health system.

Prescott Valley, AZ — Polara Health is proud to announce that Kathy Bashor has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 Polara Star Award, honoring her extraordinary advocacy, leadership, and lifelong dedication to advancing behavioral health and wellness across Arizona.

The Polara Health Star Award recognizes an exceptional community member whose efforts have helped reduce stigma, elevate the voices of individuals and families, and create compassionate pathways to healing and recovery.

This year’s recipient exemplifies the true spirit of the award through decades of transformational work and courageous leadership rooted in lived experience.

Kathy is a respected leader and advocate, using her voice to educate, challenge systems, and ensure that individuals receiving care are not only heard, but valued. Her contributions helped reshape how behavioral health services are designed and delivered in Arizona.

As Bureau Chief for the Office of Individual and Family Affairs, Kathy helped develop a nationally respected model that embedded peer and family voice throughout Arizona’s behavioral health system, setting a standard for meaningful inclusion and collaboration.

Now in retirement, Kathy continues to make a lasting impact through her leadership with the Arizona Peer and Family Coalition and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) in both Yavapai County and statewide.

She also brought her journey full circle by serving as a member of the State Hospital Governance Board, where she helps guide oversight and policy—ensuring that lessons learned from patient experience continue to inform care now and into the future.

“For her courage, her advocacy, and her continued dedication to improving mental health systems for others, it is our honor to present Kathy Bashor with the 2026 Polara Star Award,” said Dr. David Fero, last year’s Polara Health Star Award Recipient.

Polara Health is honored to celebrate Kathy Bashor’s legacy and continued commitment to building a stronger, more compassionate behavioral health system for all.

📣 Leadership Update at Polara Health

We’re proud to share that Polara Health was featured in today’s The Daily Courier as we prepare for an important leadership transition at the end of June.

As highlighted in the article, incoming CEO Devin Bell will become the organization’s fourth director, continuing a legacy of strong leadership and community commitment. With only four directors in Polara Health’s history, this transition reflects the connection and continuity that has long guided our work.

We’re grateful for Tamara Player’s leadership and excited for what’s ahead as we continue serving Yavapai County with compassion, care, and purpose.

As Polara Health recently celebrated 60 years as Prescott’s founding center for mental health, they also observed another major milestone: a transition to new leadership.
