Fall is quickly approaching. Try this Honey Lemon Ginger Syrup to keep your family well this fall. I keep this particular syrup handy all fall and winter because it works so well, is easy to make, and it's also DELICIOUS, so kids love it too.
Ingredients:
1 large lemon - thinly sliced
1 piece of ginger (1-2 inches) peeled and sliced
organic raw honey
Optional additives: cinnamon, anise, thyme, elderberries
Using a mason jar that is at least 8oz in size, put your lemon slices and ginger slices in the jar. Pour your honey in and allow it to settle and fill all the crevices of the lemon and ginger. Fill until honey rises above the lemon and ginger. If using any additives, add them now. Seal with the lid and let sit on the counter for 2-3 weeks (refrigerator is fine too).
When ready, remove the lemon and ginger slices from the jar. It's okay to leave them in though if you keep this in the fridge.
Use 1-2 tablespoons whenever you feel like you need an immune boost. You can take it straight or add it to hot water to make an alcohol-free Hot Toddy.
