The Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority (CAFMA) formed as the first Fire Authority in the State of Arizona through an Intergovernmental Agreement between the Central Yavapai and Chino Valley Fire Districts. CAFMA's social media accounts will be used to provide relevant and timely updates for community members, including posts about fire safety, emergency incidents, news, events, job openings, and what it's like to work for CAFMA and serve our communities. We encourage questions, comments, and concerns, but please note that in order to manage staff resources, and your tax dollars, we do not monitor social media 24/7. We expect those interacting with our accounts to maintain a reasonable degree of civility. All posts and comments on CAFMA's social media pages are considered public records. BASIC INFO:

A tiny spark can tell a big story when the wind lends a hand. Don’t let your fire be the headline, skip the fire on windy days.

The Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority (CAFMA) has earned Accredited Agency status from the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI). This five-year designation recognizes the agency meets the highest standards for planning, performance, and accountability.

A notable highlight of the accreditation process was CAFMA’s first-in-the-nation collaboration with Prescott Fire Department to jointly develop Shared Standards of Cover and a Community Risk Assessment, demonstrating regional cooperation and innovation in public safety.

We thank our dedicated CAFMA staff for their hard work and professionalism, as well as the Prescott Fire Department and our community partners, whose collaboration helped make this accreditation possible.

The Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority (CAFMA) and Yavapai College Fire Academy and Fire Sciences Program are proud to announce a new partnership to outfit the gym at the Central Arizona Regional Training Academy (CARTA). Together, the organizations outfitted the space with fitness and training equipment designed to support firefighter conditioning, providing a facility where CAFMA recruits and Firefighter 1 and 2 students can develop the strength, endurance, and skills essential for modern firefighting.

For nearly a decade, Yavapai College Fire Science students have trained at CARTA, gaining hands-on experience through live fire exercises and practical training. The new gym expands that environment, ensuring students and CAFMA recruits are physically prepared for the realities of modern firefighting.

By sharing resources and investing together, CAFMA and Yavapai College are strengthening firefighter training and helping prepare the next generation to serve communities across Arizona.

Structure Fire in Prescott Valley – March 11, 2026

CAFMA and Prescott Fire Department crews responded to a house fire on Manley Drive yesterday evening. Investigators found it started when weeds were burned on a no-burn day. Wind was a factor, helping the flames spread from the weeds to nearby bushes and into the home.

Thanks to quick action, firefighters contained the fire to the home of origin, protected neighboring houses, and safely recovered several valuables for the homeowner. No injuries were reported. The individual responsible was cited by Prescott Valley Police Department.

Burn Permit Reminder:
* Always get a residential burn permit: prescottarea.burnpermits.com
* Check if it’s a burn day, and never burn in windy conditions
* Never leave a burn unattended
* Keep a water supply nearby and always fully extinguish your fire

If a fire starts, evacuate immediately. Don’t go back inside for belongings — they can be replaced; you cannot.

Thank you to our partner agencies: APS, Copperstate Ambulance, Prescott Fire Department, Prescott Valley Police, Prescott Valley, AZ Town Government Building Department, and UniSource.
