Central Arizona Fire and Medical Central Arizona Fire & Medical Authority (CAFMA) serves 369 sq. miles of Yavapai County, Arizona. Visit https://www.cazfire.gov for a complete history.

The Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority (CAFMA) formed as the first Fire Authority in the State of Arizona through an Intergovernmental Agreement between the Central Yavapai and Chino Valley Fire Districts. CAFMA's social media accounts will be used to provide relevant and timely updates for community members, including posts about fire safety, emergency incidents, news, events, job opening

s, and what it's like to work for CAFMA and serve our communities. We encourage questions, comments, and concerns, but please note that in order to manage staff resources, and your tax dollars, we do not monitor social media 24/7. We expect those interacting with our accounts to maintain a reasonable degree of civility. All posts and comments on CAFMA's social media pages are considered public records. BASIC INFO:

Our 10 full-time stations are staffed 24/7/365 with a minimum crew of three. At least one crew member on every engine company is a Certified Emergency Paramedic. Our engines are equipped for all-hazards responses including the latest technology in Advanced Life Support equipment.

A hummingbird found its way into our bay at Station 61, but couldn’t figure out how to get back out. After some time inside, the tiny bird appeared disoriented and exhausted.

Our crew gently moved it to a quiet spot and offered a small amount of sugar-water mixture to help it recover. Once it regained some strength and perked up, we guided it outside, and when it was ready, off it flew 💛

While it’s best to let wildlife stay wild, sometimes they surprise us! We’re proud to have compassionate crews who go the extra mile, even for the smallest visitors.

Emergency crews responded yesterday to a wildland fire sparked by fence welding in the Saddleview/Prescott Ridge area of Prescott Valley. The fire burned roughly 10 acres of grass and brush and approached within 30 feet of nearby homes.

Before crews arrived, Saddleview and Prescott Ridge neighbors jumped into action bringing water trucks, tractors, shovels, and fire extinguishers to slow the fire’s spread. Their efforts helped buy critical time until firefighters could take over.

Firefighters worked quickly and effectively, establishing a perimeter, stopping the fire’s progress, and safeguarding surrounding properties, even as winds added complexity to the response. A CAFMA drone provided aerial support to guide suppression efforts and monitor hot spots.

Thanks to the rapid, coordinated efforts of CAFMA, Prescott Fire Department, U.S. Forest Service - Prescott National Forest, Prescott Valley Police Department, and Yavapai County Sheriff's Office, no structures were lost.

CAFMA Engine 59 responded to a vehicle fire yesterday on Highway 89A alongside Prescott Fire Department and Arizona Department of Public Safety. Thankfully, the driver was safely out of the vehicle and no injuries were reported.

It was also a milestone moment for one of our own. Probationary Firefighter Khazaal handled his first fire response with confidence and calm, gaining valuable experience on the scene.

Bus safety! 🚌

Back to School Means Buses Are Back on the Road 🚌

With the new school year starting soon, school buses will be back on the roads—and so will kids waiting and crossing.

Drivers:
- Slow down, stay alert, and always obey school bus laws.
- Kids can appear unexpectedly, especially in school zones and neighborhoods.
- Never pass a stopped school bus with flashing red lights. It’s not just illegal—it’s dangerous and could cost a life.

Let’s keep our roads safe for our kids.

This morning, emergency crews responded to a call involving a minor injured in a single-bicycle accident near State Route 69 and Village Way in Dewey. No vehicles were involved. The patient was flown by Native 14 - Prescott Valley for further treatment.

Safety Reminder: Accidents can happen in an instant, even when no other vehicles are around. A properly fitted helmet can save your life and greatly reduce the risk of serious injury. Whether it’s you or your child on the ride, always wear a helmet.

🚨 Evacuation isn’t the only protective action we may ask you to take.

In some emergencies—like wildfire, hazmat incidents, or power outages—sheltering in place or avoiding an area may be the safest option. It all comes down to the situation.

✅ Stay – Shelter safely inside.
🚫 Avoid – Stay out of hazardous zones.
🔄 Return – Follow official instructions before reentering.

Be alert. Stay ready. Know your zone. Because being prepared isn’t just for evacuations—it’s for every type of response.
