The Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority (CAFMA) formed as the first Fire Authority in the State of Arizona through an Intergovernmental Agreement between the Central Yavapai and Chino Valley Fire Districts. CAFMA's social media accounts will be used to provide relevant and timely updates for community members, including posts about fire safety, emergency incidents, news, events, job opening

s, and what it's like to work for CAFMA and serve our communities. We encourage questions, comments, and concerns, but please note that in order to manage staff resources, and your tax dollars, we do not monitor social media 24/7. We expect those interacting with our accounts to maintain a reasonable degree of civility. All posts and comments on CAFMA's social media pages are considered public records. BASIC INFO:

CAFMA has earned “Gold Helmet” status, a national recognition for leadership in firefighter cancer prevention.

Awarded through the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) National Firefighter Registry (NFR) for Cancer—a national registry studying cancer among firefighters—this distinction reflects our commitment to protecting firefighter health. To qualify, departments must enroll at least 50% of their personnel or more than 300 firefighters into the registry.

Cancer remains the leading cause of line-of-duty death in the fire service. By participating in this registry, CAFMA firefighters are helping advance research to improve safety standards and save lives nationwide.

Last week, the crew of Engine 50 responded to a unique request to rescue an American flag that had been swept up by a dust devil and carried onto a neighbor’s roof. They safely brought it down and returned it to its rightful place.

A small moment that reflects what this community is all about, people who care and crews who are proud to serve.

Day 2 of the 2026 Prescott Basin Operation Drill. Over two days of live fire exercises, fire, law enforcement, and emergency response crews worked side by side to strengthen skills and share knowledge.

This was a training environment where mistakes were expected and used for learning and improvement. As stated in the morning briefing, “The day you don’t learn something new, you fail.”

Working seamlessly with AZDPS, Copperstate Ambulance, Native Air, Prescott Regional Communications Center, and Prescott Valley Police, crews rapidly assessed, treated, and coordinated air transport for a patient involved in an automotive crash. Strong partnerships and professionalism make this level of care possible—we’re proud to work with these teams every day.

Video description: Video opens with a group of EMS personnel moving a patient on a stretcher toward a waiting Native Air helicopter. The sound of helicopter blades can be heard. The video ends with the helicopter taking off, with the sound of the rotors growing louder.

A big thank you to the skilled voices behind the radio, our dispatchers!

It’s National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, and we’re recognizing the calm, steady voices behind every call. You hear them, but rarely see them, and their professionalism, quick thinking, and composure make a difference every single day, helping guide crews and care for our community from the first call to the last.

2026 Prescott Basin Operation Drill—For nearly 30 years, this drill has brought agencies together, and this past week near Groom Creek was no different. Fire, law enforcement, and emergency response crews trained side by side over two days of live fire exercises, sharpening skills and sharing expertise.

We can’t stress enough how fortunate we are to have this level of coordination and shared resources. That collaboration strengthens our response and helps protect our communities and natural areas.
