The struggle with the Northern Arizona VA continues. My patient has been waiting since November of last year for a new prosthesis, he has been coming to us for over 6 years now and states it’s the best prosthesis he has ever had. The employees in the VA are incredible people and do an amazing job, there are just a few bad eggs in there that have really tried to hurt our business. Absolutely disgusting care to a service related veteran. He is only hurting the veteran here, not us. I will continue to fight for Veterans no matter what. He deserves so much better than what he is getting from purchasing and the chief they are horrible people. Gross people in powerful positions are ruining this amazing local VA. Time to get a hold of some people that may actually be able to change this.

We are working tirelessly with multiple resources to fight for our Veterans. They have been wrongly and spitefully denied care from our facility, some that have been coming here for almost 7 years. We offered the VA the same price with discounts on an artificial limb that was upgraded just so our Veteran can continue his care with us. Now why wouldn’t our local VA purchase officers be happy about a Veteran getting an upgraded prosthesis?? Why wouldn’t they be happy that our Veterans are happy?? Does the hatred toward us outweigh the quality of care for our veterans?? Ask the VA. We will continue to fight all the way to the very top if we have to. Our Veterans don’t deserve to be treated this way. 🇺🇸 thank you to all that served.

Who believes Veterans should be able to choose where they go for their prosthetic and orthotic care?? I would like to believe our small town Northern Arizona VA would love to send people where they want to go. This is not the case, Veterans that have been coming here for YEARS are now spitefully being turned away. We need to fix this. Such a shame for our amazing veterans. We will fight for you guys. We will not stop fighting for our Veterans. They should be able to choose the only veteran owned company in town. Hopefully changes are coming.

Shoutout to the American Legion Post 6. The Veteran owned business mixer was great! It’s always good to network with like minded people. People that truly care about Veterans and people that share the same goal. Build veteran owned businesses, hire Veterans and truly provide the greatest care possible to our men and women that serve, they deserveve it. Thank you to all that attended, and thank you to all the Veterans that served this wonderful country 🇺🇸

We were contacted by a couple who came into the office to ask us for some advice for their friend, Edward in Mwanza, Tanzania. They asked me if I knew of any ideas to keep his prosthesis comfortable as they do not have the services or technology like we do here. I provided him with a bunch of supplies. It’s likely he had never felt a gel liner against his skin before, he was currently just placing socks and other fabrics around his limb to make his prosthetic fit “good enough”. I refused to make them pay for such a service, all I asked is that they send me a picture, not only did we get a great smiling picture but he sent me a voice message in Swahili and the friend that came to talk to us that day translated it, I have attached her translation to the picture. Please listen to this amazing gratitude, it’s something you don’t see or hear much these days. What an amazing, heart warming Friday here at Fikes ☺️

A patient informed us yesterday that they had nominated us for Best of Yavapai Healthcare business. We are so blessed to have such a great community to take care of. If anyone wants to vote for us, please don’t hesitate. It would be an honor for us to receive such an award. Thank you to our community and doctors for the referrals and love we get from you. As a Veteran, would you like to have your prosthetics and orthotics made by a veteran owned company that’s managed by an amputee? In an 11,000 sqft facility with a full lab and a full gym? Your items are made right here in Prescott? Or would you rather go to a multi billion dollar corporate company that uses a central fabrication? If you like the first option please contact your local VA or call your local congressman and request Fikes Orthopedic Specialties get a local Northern AZ VA local contract. We have contributed almost 2 million dollars to building our business in this amazing town and our reputation is great. Please help us get this contract! ☺️
