We were contacted by a couple who came into the office to ask us for some advice for their friend, Edward in Mwanza, Tanzania. They asked me if I knew of any ideas to keep his prosthesis comfortable as they do not have the services or technology like we do here. I provided him with a bunch of supplies. It’s likely he had never felt a gel liner against his skin before, he was currently just placing socks and other fabrics around his limb to make his prosthetic fit “good enough”. I refused to make them pay for such a service, all I asked is that they send me a picture, not only did we get a great smiling picture but he sent me a voice message in Swahili and the friend that came to talk to us that day translated it, I have attached her translation to the picture.
