This week, in honor of Volunteer Appreciation Week, Alta Vista Senior Living had the privilege of partnering with the Prescott Chamber of Commerce to host a special breakfast celebrating their incredible volunteers 💛

From early mornings to countless hours of dedication, these individuals give so much to our community—and it does not go unnoticed. It was our honor to serve them, connect with them, and say a heartfelt thank you for all they do.

We also want to highlight the importance of strong health and wellness oversight in supporting both our residents and their families during complex transitions.

"I was given a direct compliment regarding this situation and felt it was important to share—while it feels a bit outside my comfort zone, as I usually prefer to quietly do the work, it reflects the level of care and advocacy we strive to provide and why it’s so meaningful to live here.
In this case, there has been ongoing coordination to ensure medication orders were accurate, clarified, and safely implemented. This included identifying discrepancies, preparing documentation for appointments, supporting the resident in communicating effectively with their provider, and remaining available for direct follow-up when needed.
During this process, a medication error was identified and corrected. The primary care provider’s office expressed appreciation for the diligence and attention to detail, noting how valuable it is to have someone actively ensuring accuracy and safety.
This is a reflection of our shared commitment to doing things the right way—prioritizing safety, advocacy, and thoughtful support for those we serve."

Jim (Caregiver) — Thank you for going the extra mile in such a meaningful and thoughtful way. You took the time to bring a reminder to a resident navigating a very difficult transition with her husband’s progressing dementia. Not only was it helpful, but it was exactly what she needed in that moment—guidance on how to meet her loved one where he is, while still preserving his dignity. Your intentionality and compassion did not go unnoticed. That extra effort brought comfort and ease during a challenging time.
Mary (Caregiver) — Thank you for providing such genuine emotional support. You offered a listening ear and created a space where this resident felt heard, understood, and supported. Your attentiveness and empathy made a real impact, and that kind of presence is invaluable during moments like these.
Both of you demonstrated the heart of what we do—meeting people with compassion, respect, and dignity. Thank you for taking that extra step to support not just our residents, but their families as well. 💙
