Retinol works best when you focus on technique and consistency.

Our favorite option is SkinBetter AlphaRet Overnight Cream. It’s a retinol that is typically gentle enough to use nightly right away, with minimal redness or discomfort for most skin types.

Use a pea size for your whole face. Tap it around, then blend outward so you are not drifting product toward the eye area. Cheeks last, they tend to be more sensitive for a lot of people.

If you are new to retinol, start with two nights a week and increase slowly as your skin adjusts.
If you feel dry, moisturizer before or after retinol is totally fine.
And since retinol makes skin more sun sensitive, daily SPF in the morning is part of the routine.
