Sometimes, you just have to go back to your roots to truly appreciate where you are now. There’s nothing quite like showing up for a house call and being greeted by a horse and carriage. There’s nothing better than doing what you love, even on the hard days. 🩵

FOLLOW YOUR PATH 🌱 ⁣

Fun fact: Sam Coffman introduced me to herbal medicine and taught my very first class over 10 years ago. I then began training with him in herbal medicine and various other self sufficiency skills at his school in San Antonio, TX.

I am so grateful for Sam and Suchil and their positive influence in my journey. Never would I have thought when I met them over a decade ago that I would continue down my path to becoming a Naturopathic Doctor and regularly using herbal medicine in my practice.⁣

Our paths finally crossed again this weekend at their new school in Taos, NM as I learned the art of bladesmithing from the amazing James Brock . I finally fulfilled a dream of learning to hand forge my own blade. Now we shall see where this new skill and path leads. ⁣

Follow your path. You never know where it’ll take you, who will influence you, what you’ll learn, or how you’ll be able to help others because of it. ⁣

“The strongest steel is forged in the hottest fire” AND with a lot of patience. The process of hand forging a blade from a raw piece of carbon steel is a deeply captivating process. There is no instant gratification. Gratification comes from trusting that each strike of your hammer on that steel and each stroke of your file on that bevel is forming something beautifully functional.⁣

Bladesmithing is a raw connection between your humanity and the forces of nature. 🔥 It forces you to ground yourself, slow down, and to trust yourself and the process. Working with fire and metal also serves as a humbling reminder of just how powerful nature can be.⁣

Metal working, and more specifically bladesmithing, is a skill I have wanted to learn for over a decade. I’m grateful that I was finally able to take this course with the extremely talented James Brock, thanks to Sam and Suchil at The Human Path / Herbal Medics Academy.

5 YEARS 🩺⁣

Today marks 5 years of practice and living my purpose. I can’t even begin to describe how grateful I am for my patients who teach me something new each day. It has been the most humbling, challenging, and rewarding journey I could have ever imagined, and the journey has only just begun. ⁣

I also wouldn’t be able to do what I love without the relentless support of my Arizona Healthcare Freedom team. Through all of the crazy transitions, I know that I am blessed beyond measure as we help patients find true healing. ⁣

Here’s to 5 years and many more! THANK YOU ALL. 🩵⁣

Today is the anniversary of the day I lost my mom to colon cancer when she was just 47 years old. 💙 She taught me to never take my health for granted, and I am now blessed to be able to do the same for my patients. ⁣

I had my second screening colonoscopy a few months ago. Now that I’m approaching the age that it is believed my mom’s cancer started, the gastroenterologist recommended screening every 5 years moving forward. ⁣

In honor and loving memory of my mom, I just want to say… GET YOUR SCREENINGS DONE! 🙏 If you are concerned about a colonoscopy, please don’t be. It’s one of the simplest medical procedures available, and the benefits of early screening far outweigh any kind of risk involved. Plus you get a really nice cleanse and nap! 😌⁣

According to the American College of Gastroenterology (ACOG) guidelines, colon cancer screening is recommended for most people starting at age 45. However, it is important to speak with your physician to evaluate your family history and other risk factors in order to determine when is best to start screening. ⁣

Remember… “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” 🤙 Stay healthy, my friends. ⁣
