I was asked by Peter Larlee to post the following:
Do you have information on Wallace Herbert Larlee, b. 1921, d.1945? He is a war hero!
George A. Larlee (b. 1868) and his wife, Mary Browning (b.1883), were married in 1901 at Aroostook Junction, New Brunswick, Canada. They had 12 children, 11 of whom reached adulthood. The youngest was Wallace Herbert Larlee. Wallace died in Germany on 24 April 1945, 10 days before the German surrender, on a pointless mission with 8 other members of the North Shore (NB) Regiment when their transport was hit by a mortar shell.
Wallace is my 2nd cousin, twice removed. He was single and 19 at the time of his death.
Wallace is buried in Holton War Cemetery in Holland. I will travel to Holland in 2025 to participate in the liberation of Holland commemorations along with a close friend whose father died in the final weeks of the War and is also buried in Holton.
If you are related to Wallace through one of his siblings (could be one of your grandparents), please send me a photograph or any information you have. I will ensure that he is properly honored and not forgotten!
