Research suggests that children can learn to think differently about sticky, intrusive thoughts so they don't feel controlled by them.

Especially us special needs Mamas 😘

To the couple that sits behind us in church,

Thank you.

I’m aware that sitting behind a family with two babies under 18 months is no easy task.

Your patience and peekaboos while Pastor preaches is an incredible gift.

Bringing babies in church is akin to bringing babies on an airplane. Some congregants are tolerant and kind and others groan at the unpredictable temperaments of littles.

I’ve had a lady glare at me for the loud gulp from my baby drinking a bottle. I’ve been part of the church long enough to know not all who are seated are saved.

And my chest has tightened as I’ve wrestled a restless baby. I’ve spent more sermons pacing the lobby than soaking in scripture.

But instead of groaning at our arrival, you say “I’ve missed my little buddy” and pass toys back and forth over the pew.

You’ve calmed my anxious mama heart knowing we are not only welcome to sit in front of you, but wanted.

Hearing you chuckle at the antics of my little man and his bestest little pal fills my heart.

When I worry that we are too much or too loud or too distracting, you save us a seat and a big smile.

Thank you for loving the LORD so much that you’ve ushered our littles into your worship space.

Our pew won’t always be this rowdy.

And when it isn’t, I promise to extend the same warmth and welcome to the next generation of anxious parents. I promise to remind them they’re not too much or too loud or distracting, but that it’s too important for their babies to find a place in the pew.

Thank you for ministering to this mama.

Spending time outside is transformative! It regulates, calms, invigorates and focuses a child all at the same time.

Get out their wiggly-woos and blow away the bad moods with a dose of expansive sky and fresh air. It's such a powerful tool for parenting/caregiving!
