🌟iHOPE Peer Support Services🌟

Everyone wants to feel seen and heard when they’re struggling, and often that means finding someone who truly understands. A peer is someone we can relate to—whether through gender, race, culture, age, or other factors. Peers play a crucial role for youth, as they often seek support from one another before turning to anyone else.

In the context of mental health, peer support offers young people the opportunity to connect with someone who also experiences mental health conditions. This connection fosters understanding and empathy. Additionally, peer support benefits the person providing it, as they can use their own experiences to help others, enhancing their own well-being in the process.

Psychosis is a mental health condition that affects how a person interprets reality. It often involves a loss of connection with the world around them, which can lead to difficulty distinguishing between what is real and what isn’t. Psychosis is a symptom rather than a diagnosis, and it can occur as part of mental health conditions like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or severe depression, or it can be due to other factors such as substance use, trauma, or medical conditions.

If you or someone you know is experiencing symptoms of psychosis, it is important to seek help right away.
