It has been a busy and productive week for crews in Harlan County. On Thursday, FTO Kirby and AEMT Craig participated in the county’s 4-H Day, engaging with and supporting the youth in our community.

Today, multiple crews, in collaboration with the Emergency Management directors, Air Evac, SKCTC nursing students, and local police and fire departments, conducted the county’s annual Mock Disaster exercise.

We extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who took time to remain actively involved in and committed to the community we serve.

When one of our own is benched, we do our best to make sure they’re still taken care of. Last week, Harlan LT Galloway and FTO Kirby volunteered their time to make sure fellow LT Simpson could safely enter and exit his home while recovering from a work related injury.
Levi, we all wish you a speedy recovery and can’t wait to have you back.

For more than 30 years, Mr. Baker devoted himself selflessly to serving the citizens of Harlan County, leaving a lasting and meaningful impact on emergency services throughout the region. His dedication, compassion, and commitment to others will not be forgotten. We ask that you keep Mr. Baker’s family, as well as his fellow first responders, in your thoughts and prayers as they come together to honor his life and say their final goodbyes.

Tonight our Floyd County Operation gets the privilege to assist Middle Creek Volunteer Fire Department with their annual trick or treat event for the community. This is completely free to everyone. Come join us for fellowship, candy, popcorn, hot dogs, cotton candy and some creepy clowns!
