Positive Pathways

Positive Pathways Medication Management, Life Coaching, and Therapy for Mental Health. Belly laughs and good conversation also peak my interest.

After 20 years away and journeys all over the world, I've found nothing more compelling than a Carbon County sunset. It's only rival being a castle valley rain storm that sweeps across the plateaus in colossal curtains. I returned home to be nearer to my family and closer to this landscape as I consider nature to be a medication of its own. I have many personal interests which range from hiking craggy book cliffs to capturing the beauty of this world through photography. My professional nursing career began in the Emergency Department at the University of Kansas in Kansas City. It was the regions only Level I trauma center and thus my education and exposure were fast tracked. In 2011 I obtained a master's in Nursing from the University of Missouri and since that time I've been treating mental illness. It is my intention to work closely with local primary care providers enhancing service integration. Patients can expect an in depth evaluation, health promotion and a health partner. Mental health is the cornerstone of excellent physical health and the groundwork for a meaningful life; together we will work towards your achievement of this goal.

Did you know that our behavior can come from more than one place? Oftentimes, our behaviors are not neurotransmitter-driven but rather driven by our personality or patterns of learned coping that may be unhealthy. Here are some examples:

I often see men between 40 and 65 who worry they have Alzheimer's. They think they are losing their minds but it's actually sleep deprivation from a lifetime of shift work. Long-term shift work can lead to serious health consequences, including an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, and certain cancers due to disrupted circadian rhythms and poor sleep quality. It is also linked to mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, and cognitive decline. Over time, shift workers may experience chronic fatigue, weakened immune function, and metabolic disorders. Additionally, irregular hours can strain relationships, reduce overall quality of life, and contribute to workplace burnout. Managing sleep, diet, and stress is crucial to mitigating these long-term effects.

Why don’t people price shop for medications? Save money in 2025 with GoodRx or CostPlus Drugs. Don’t just accept your pharmacy or insurance prices—medications like aripiprazole, desvenlafaxine, and atomoxetine are often cheaper out of pocket. This applies to many many generic meds. Check the price differences below!

October and November are hard. These are the hardest months for me as a clinician because they are the hardest months for my clients. Hang in there! We are in this together.

I am so excited about this. We had a Receiving Center when I worked in Salt Lake and it was enough to save multiple patients from hospitalization. Thank you Four Corners for bringing this to our community.

Is anybody out there today? Can you help me fill up my gratitude jar? Gratitude impacts my emotional resilience and it is contagious. So help me out, what are you grateful for? (PS, this is a real post. I will not try to scam you with injured dogs, chain letters, or Nigerian princes).

In the past 2.5 years, both of my parents have passed away, an experience that has proven profoundly challenging. However, I am not trying to solicit sympathy; I aim to provide context for recommending the following podcast. Please listen, as I believe our society stands to benefit from a deeper comprehension of the dynamics surrounding death and grief. This podcast gives the history behind our approach. I hope it may offer you insights and solace in navigating similar experiences.

From the Radiolab podcast: The remarkable story of Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, the woman who showed us all how to stare down death and also get through our grief....
