CalvertHealth In the heart of Calvert County, CalvertHealth has been taking care of Southern Maryland families for more than a century.

In everything we do, our goal is to be the trusted healthcare leader, delivering a lifetime of exceptional care. CalvertHealth Medical Center (CHMC) is a private, not-for-profit, community-owned hospital. Founded in 1919, CHMC has been taking care of Southern Maryland families for more than 100 years. Our hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission, licensed by the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and certified for Medicare and Medicaid. You can feel confident that you will receive only the highest quality care at CHMC. CHMC is governed by a community board of directors who volunteer their service to the health system. They represent our community and take an active role in the operation of our facility. You can find out more about our board members at http://www.calverthealthmedicine.org/. In addition to our main hospital campus, medical office buildings located in Dunkirk, Solomons, Twin Beaches and Prince Frederick ensure that quality care is no more than 15 minutes from anywhere in Calvert County. We are dedicated to the seamless delivery of high quality medical services for each of our patients. This means supplying everything you may need, from acute, critical care to rehabilitation and home health services, all in the same continuum. It also means providing community health education, wellness programs and reaching out to our neighbors through community partnerships.

September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. Because there is no routine screening test, knowing the symptoms is your most powerful tool for early detection.

Ovarian cancer often "whispers." Pay attention to persistent symptoms like:

• Bloating or increased abdominal size
• Pelvic or abdominal pain
• Difficulty eating or feeling full quickly
• Urinary symptoms (urgency or frequency)

If you experience these signs daily for more than a few weeks, don't dismiss them. An early conversation with your primary care provider or OB/GYN can make all the difference.

Sepsis doesn’t discriminate — it can affect anyone, at any age, and it can develop quickly. The good news? Knowing the signs and acting fast saves lives.

Remember the word TIME:
T – Temperature (higher or lower than normal)
I – Infection (may have signs of infection)
M – Mental decline (confused, sleepy, hard to rouse)
E – Extremely ill (severe pain or discomfort)

If you suspect sepsis, don’t wait — call 911 or get emergency care immediately.
