We are accepting new and gently used coats for all ages. Non-perishable foods items, or shelf stable food items that can be distributed into blessing boxes as well as donations that can go to community organizations. We will be accepting coats, blankets, non-perishable foods, and items that can be preserved. If you have a donation that needs to be picked up, please let us know. We can make arrangements to help pick them up.

As many of you may know, September is recovery month. Mountain State Counseling Services would like to honor the individuals and families affected by addiction in a different way this year. In efforts to aid our little community we will be holding a coat drive/non-perishable foods drive to support our little pantry in office as well as aid those who are in need in our community. We will be accepting IN DATE food items and coats (HATS and gloves) in our office in the old medical arts building, Suit 208.

We will fill our little closet in our office, then be distributing the remainder of the donations to community organizations (and open blessing boxes) to help the vulnerable population in our community. If you would like to donate, please stop by our office or call (304) 913-4166.

Mountain State Counseling Services is pleased to announce the launch of a new group therapy program specifically designed to support individuals within the LGBTQ+ community who are experiencing challenges in daily life.

Participation in the group requires an initial intake evaluation, as well as a minimum of one individual therapy session per month (or more, as clinically indicated) to address personal concerns that may not be suitable for the group setting.

We plan to complete intake evaluations throughout the month of September, with group sessions scheduled to begin in October.

If you are interested in participating or would like more information, please contact our office at 304-913-4166 to schedule your intake evaluation.

Are there sounds that instantly cause you to feel intense anger, anxiety or disgust? Are those emotions extremely strong, even overpowering, to the point where they’re hard to control? These are features of misophonia, a disorder where you have a decreased tolerance to specific sounds and things you can sense (see, touch, etc.) related to them.

This phenomenon can affect people very differently. Some people may only have one "trigger" sound that causes this reaction. Some people can have several trigger sounds.

People can also have reactions that are more or less severe. Some people can’t control the emotions they feel but can control their responses. Some people can't control either, causing them to react impulsively. In the most severe cases, people may not be able to do certain things or be in specific environments. (Cleveland Clinic ❤️)
