Avoiding the things that make you anxious can feel like relief. But over time, avoidance can quietly make anxiety stronger. It starts small and you may not even notice. Some examples include not answering the phone, canceling plans, and putting things off. Then suddenly your world starts to feel smaller.

Sometimes the exhaustion isn’t physical. It’s mental. When your mind is constantly running through what could go wrong, replaying conversations, planning for every possible outcome, or staying on high alert, it can leave you feeling drained even if you haven’t “done” much. That kind of worry takes all of your energy.
If you’ve been feeling tired lately, it may not just be lack of sleep. Sometimes it’s the weight of carrying too much stress for too long. Mental exhaustion is real, and it deserves care.

Anxiety in social situations can feel like your mind is on overdrive while your body just wants an exit. If you’ve ever frozen mid-conversation, overthought every word, or counted down the minutes until you could leave you’re not alone.
Here are a few simple scripts that can help take the pressure off: “I’m going to grab some air, I’ll be right back.” “It was really nice talking to you I’m going to check in with a friend.” You don’t owe anyone a perfect performance. You’re allowed to take breaks. You’re allowed to leave early. You’re allowed to make things easier for yourself. Social situations don’t have to be all or nothing. Small exits and gentle boundaries count too.

“Just relax.” “It’s all in your head.” “Other people have it worse.” If you’ve ever struggled with anxiety, you’ve probably heard these before and felt even more misunderstood after. Anxiety isn’t a switch you can turn off. It’s not a choice, and it’s definitely not something that disappears because someone told you to “calm down.” For many people, it shows up physically, mentally, and emotionally all at once.
What actually helps? “Hey, I’m here with you.” “You don’t have to explain everything.” “Take your time.” Sometimes support isn’t about fixing it’s about understanding.
