Check out this fascinating project!

'The 1947 Partition Archive is a citizen-powered non-profit organization dedicated to documenting, preserving and sharing eye witness accounts from all ethnic, religious and economic communities affected by the Partition of British India in 1947. We provide a platform for our fellow citizens to collect, archive and display oral histories that document not only Partition, but pre-Partition life and culture as well as post-Partition migrations and life changes.'

Join us in uncovering the people's history of Partition, one story at a time. Together, we are discovering our shared histories and preserving the last remaining memories of Partition before they are forever lost.

Our photo exhibition "A House of Wonders" did not just offer an alternative perspective on Pakistan, but also helped to support a home for disabled adults in Lahore. We were able to raise $804 in support of the home!
A big THANK YOU to everyone who contributed!!!

Tomorrow night we'll be screening "Garam Hava"! Based on an Urdu short story by Ismat Chughtai, the movie deals with the fate of a North Indian Muslim family as they have to decide whether to move to Pakistan in 1947 or stay back. Take a break from work and come watch a great movie at 7 pm in 100 Jones Hall!

Tomorrow, March 29, 9 pm at 100 Jones Hall!! We will screen "Partition" (Ken McMullen/Tariq Ali), the third movie in our film series. The film is based on the short story Toba Tek Singh by Saadat Hasan Manto. Set in an asylum located in Lahore, it tells how the governments of Pakistan and India decide to exchange Muslim, Sikh, and Hindu inmates after the events of 1947. The narrative strips bare the absurd realities surrounding this decision and turns into a powerful metaphor for the breakage caused by the Partition of India.
