Sacred Harvest: A Weekend Retreat of Soulful Renewal

Come, sit with me around the sacred fire this October at the Himalayan Institute.

Only 4 spots remain for Sacred Harvest, a very rare opportunity to gather for a weekend of yoga, meditation, and an introduction to shamanism and the medicine wheel, the Four Directions.

This is your invitation to step into sacred space—

To breathe, to remember, to transform.
We gather not by chance, but by calling.
Let your heart answer.

Held in light. Guided by spirit. Rooted in love.

Have you ever gone on a vision quest? Where you leave everything you thought you knew behind to embrace a new beginning, staying open to whatever fills the new space you are creating.

I did. It’s hard to believe that it’s been 7 years since I went to Peru with The Four Winds and Deva, Miten and Manose and many other amazing people.

It was beyond my imagination and set me on a course I wouldn’t have dreamed of.

Here’s a short reel of the highlights of Lima, Cusco, the shamans, hiking the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and up to 14k feet to Mt. Pachatusan

This October, I’ll be leading my SACRED HARVEST retreat where I’ll be teaching many of the practices I learned from the Qu’echa Shamans, Alberto and Marcella over the years.
It will be a 4 day journey around the medicine wheel combined with yoga, meditation, oracle readings and a despacho fire ceremony + more!

In ancient times, the medicine wheel was a sacred tool used by indigenous cultures for healing, guidance, and spiritual connection. It was a map of the universe, a mirror of the natural world, and a pathway to the soul. The luminous warriors of old would step onto this path with reverence, seeking w...

🌟 Exciting News! 🌟

Hey everyone! I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been featured in the June edition of Magazine! 🧘‍♀️✨

It was such an honor to be recognized for my nearly 30 year dedication to yoga!

As part of the feature, I was asked to give advice to my younger self, and here’s what I shared:

“You know who you are more than anyone else ever will. Trust your instinct and be that person, and everything else will fall into place.”

That sentiment is so true for me. It wasn’t easy coming “out” as Jen the Yoga Lawyer. For many years, I felt I couldn’t be both a lawyer and a yoga teacher, but along the way I realized that to be able to show up authentically, and really thrive, that I had to. It’s just who I am.

Be sure to check out the magazine and .photography and give them a follow for more inspiring content! ✨💖

Also sending a special big thank you to .photography for another amazing and fun photo shoot!

Join me for a specially themed 75 minute yoga class this Easter to celebrate the season, followed by my 1-hour Pilates mat fusion class, which I am told is “sneaky hard”! 😹

Taking both classes guarantees no guilt as you enjoy your Easter basket goodies! 😻

When we think about making changes in our lives, we often focus on the negative risks, asking ourselves:

What if I fail?
What if other people don’t approve?
What if I lose money?
What if I hurt my career?
What if I am embarrassed?

The list goes on and we stay put and paralyze ourselves into the “I’m fine” trap of:

I’m fine. Really. I’m fine. It’s ok. It’s fine, fine, fine.

But what I’ve learned all these years practicing law and teaching yoga is that when you resort to saying “I’m fine”, you are not fine, and you are definitely not thriving or living your authentic life.

If you pay attention, your body is very likely sending you signals of how “not fine” you are through sensation, illness, and other signs of “dis-ease”. Being humans, with an ego, we of course, ignore these signs and wonder why we have put weight on around our middles, can’t sleep, or feel lonely and disconnected.

So when you find yourself emphasizing just how “fine” you are, pause and consider that you have to give equal amounts - or more - energy to the positive risks as the negative risks when considering making changes. Ask yourself:

What if it goes right?
What if I am happier than I’ve ever been?
What if I make more money?
What if I get to live my dream?

Why give the positives more energy? Because our brain is geared toward negativity and it takes 3 to 5 positive experiences to overcome a negative, and there is just something about human nature that makes us want to avoid discomfort, and let’s face it, transitions make us feel vulnerable.

Then ask yourself:

What do I need - and get really, really specific here - to feel more comfortable with making my leap of faith? Write it down, make a plan, find an ally or two to support you along the way, and make it happen.

On this Valentine’s Day, I offer you this parting thought: Leaps of faith are leaps of love, not fear.

More coming soon….

xoxo,

Jen

THE FOUNDATIONS OF THE ATTORNEY WELL-BEING MOVEMENT

Could there be a better way to end the year than by focusing on your attorney well-being? Not in my book!

We will talk about the pillars of attorney well-being, the scary statistics, and the slippery slope of modern day practice - the toxicities, the stressors and pitfalls - and how our chosen profession impacts us body, mind, and spirit. (Yes, law has a spiritual side attend to learn what I mean 💚).

I’ll break down the “woo woo” stigma of wellness and offer science based mindfullness solutions and my seasoned tips to start a mindfulness practice.🧘‍♀️

I’ll explain why meditation is hard for lawyers (spoiler alert - it is!). 🧑‍💼 💙

We will end by setting well-being goals for the new year. 🎖️

Experienced Lawyer. Wellness Expert.

A few years ago, a newspaper in Princeton, New Jersey wrote an article about me highlighting some humanitarian work I had done in India and Kenya with an international yoga group. The impetus for the article was a talk I was giving to a group of lawyers about how to build prosperity for yourself and your law practice by giving back. A friend, concerned about my professional reputation, asked me if I minded being referred to as a yoga lawyer. I laughed, and as you can see, I actually loved it.

Welcome to my page. I’m Jennifer Mohamed: experienced lawyer, yoga teacher and all-around wellness expert. I hold a Juris Doctor in Environmental Law, Certificates in Green Economy and International Environmental Law from the U.N., and a Bachelor’s Degree in Russian Language. I also hold a 200-hour Hatha yoga teacher certification, and have about 500 hours of training and study in Eastern philosophy, meditation, pilates, energy medicine, and shamanic healing. I am also a published author on climate change. My paper, Silent Spring +55: The Human Right to a Clean Environment, is a visionary piece on how to solve the climate crisis through a human rights lense and was published by the University of California Davis School of Law in 2018.

Ten years ago when I was in the midst of my yoga teacher training, ironically, I often found it hard to be authentic. When I was with my yoga friends, I reluctantly admitted that I was an attorney, and when I was with my lawyer colleagues, I hid how dedicated I was to yoga, often brushing it off as just exercise. Then, a few years later, I found myself working in a job where I was challenged to show up everyday and, well, be exceptional. In order to do that, I could no longer hide my yoga and I learned that once I stopped hiding who I really am, I became more empowered and engaged, a better mom, friend, and partner, and ultimately, more successful. Since then, I’ve been practicing law and yoga, and integrating the two to become a better lawyer and now, to re-define what it means to be a lawyer in today’s world.

And so, after years of living in the toxicity that has saturated the legal profession and learning to let it all go on my yoga mat, I’ve set out on a journey to train lawyers in mindfulness to transform how we practice law, and train anyone who will listen in conscious leadership and wellness habits to change the world. Yes, to change the world.
