Colvin Funeral Home, being a successor to the firm of Dimick & Maxam Furniture and Undertaking that started in Princeton in 1852, has continued to be a local family owned and operated funeral establishment.
Colvin Funeral Home, Inc. has maintained a tradition of offering professional, yet personal service that has been associated with the Colvin family since 1908 when Oliver Colvin moved to Princeton. With his four sons joining him and then taking over the business, they continued to be well respected for the quality of service they provided.
There were four young men who worked with the Colvin brothers and were able to learn the skills and obtain the ability to provide that “special touch” that was associated with the funeral home. Joseph "Joe" Maxey, Richard "Rick" Hickrod, Mark R. Walter, and J.B. Wells purchased the funeral home from the Colvin family in December of 1977 and continued the legacy of quality service.
Colvin Funeral Home took an opportunity to provide quality service with another funeral home that had also been well respected in the area. The Corn Mortuary of Oakland City was purchased by the four owners and David Corn in December of 1993 to form Corn-Colvin Funeral Home, which has enabled them to continue providing professional and personal services, that both funeral homes have been noted for.
