Is it really piriformis syndrome, or something else entirely? Many people are mistakenly diagnosed with piriformis syndrome when, in reality, the issue is often a herniated disc or spinal stenosis at the L5-S1 level. Since the L5 nerve innervates the piriformis muscle, inflammation at this level can cause piriformis spasms—leading to misdiagnosis.

In this video, Dr. Cooper breaks down:
âś… How piriformis syndrome and a pinched nerve look identical
âś… Why L5-S1 disc herniations are the most common cause of sciatic pain
âś… Why treating the piriformis muscle might only provide temporary relief

If you've been struggling with lower back pain, sciatic pain, or piriformis muscle spasms, this video will help you understand the real root cause of your discomfort.
