Postpartum depression 🌩️
PPD rates have increased significantly, rising from 9.4% in 2010 to 19.3% in 2021 (according to recent studies). Personally, I feel that number is higher. In the past 2 weeks alone, I’ve had 5 moms with concern of postpartum depression signs. These moms are all in different stages of newborn life, first time or even third time mothers, different ages, different socioeconomic status, different ethnicities, different cultures. And each of them needed support.
There’s a lot of taboo out there about PPD/PPA. YOUR FEELINGS MATTER. YOU MATTER. There are wonderful counselors out there that specialize specifically in this field. There are SAFE medications out there (fellow Zoloft mama here!) that you can take while nursing + pumping. There are SAFE supplements that are more natural, if that’s what you feel is best for you.
I hope that each of my clients always feel as open to their feelings with me as these sweet mamas have been. This is how we heal. This is how we grow. Together. Motherhood is a village, and I’m honored to be part of yours.
