A narcissist will never apologize when they hurt you. On God, they aware of the damage they cause, but they will never take accountability for it.

Why? Because accountability would expose the lies they told about you. Even the idea of people seeing you reunite or move past it threatens their ego and their need for control.

This is when they go silent. Every now and then, when an opening appears, they will do a “temperature check” to see if you have softened enough to pull you back in and drain you. Even in that encounter, the thought of apologizing is still not part of their plan.

Once you see how someone moves when it costs them nothing to be decent, the conversation is over. Patterns don’t lie. Behavior tells the truth long before words try to clean it up.

Pay attention to how people treat others when there is no benefit attached. That is where character shows itself. The only real question is whether you are willing to accept what you see instead of explaining it away.
