RIP Judge Caprio

Rhode Island legend and Federal Hill icon Judge Frank Caprio has passed away at the age of 88.

Judge Caprio was loved by all. Our condolences go out to the Caprio family and the entire state of Rhode Island. We’ve lost one of the good ones.

Back in April, our panel of judges travelled the state in search of the BEST CUPCAKES. When it was all said and done, one bakery stood above the rest.

Sampling the finest cupcakes from the best of the best bakeries may sound glamorous and it was! When the votes were counted, was declared the CHAMPION!

The Bread Boss is an Italian American bakery located in Johnston and founded in 2013 by the Martinelli brothers. The brothers transferred the bakery to their head baker James Jones in 2016 and he and his wife, Joanne, have been at the helm ever since. They carry over 100 items ranging from cookies, zeppoli, muffins, pizza strips, calzones, cakes, pies, and now the BEST CUPCAKES in Rhode Island!

Boomerang’s Roadhouse is your 2025 Big Burger Blowout People’s Choice Champion — again. 🏆

🍔 For the second consecutive year, claimed the top spot thanks to their bold, expertly-executed ‘Aussie Outback Smash’ — a double smashed patty with sharp cheddar, candied jalapeños, house pickles, and that signature sauce that sealed the deal with voters.

🍔 This wasn’t just a burger — it was a statement. And Rhode Island showed up in a big way to back it.

To all the incredible restaurants that competed: THANK YOU. The level of creativity, craft, and hustle this year raised the bar across the board. RI’s burger scene continues to be one of the most exciting (and competitive) in the country.

🍩💥 THE PEOPLE’S CHOICE DONUT CROWN STAYS PUT 💥🍩

For the “who knows how many times in a row’”years running (!!!), .doughnuts has snatched the 💖 People’s Choice Award at our 2025 Best Donut LoveFest — and it wasn’t close.

You showed up.

You taste-tested your way through dozens of dreamy donuts from across the state. And once again, KNEAD rose to the top with pillowy textures, creative flavors, and pure donut devotion.

👏 Massive respect to every one of the sweet spots that threw down this year — RI’s donut game is unreal right now. But the people have spoken, and they’re still KNEADING more.
