Community Nutrition Education RI Community Nutrition Education Rhode Island, funded by USDA, brings up-to-date nutrition education to families needing help stretching the food dollar.

We promote low-cost ways to eat well and stay fit! We are part of URI's Cooperative Extension. SNAP-Ed is a government program that provides nutrition education to low-income households. SNAP is the new name for the Food Stamp Program. EFNEP serves youth and families with young children by providing a series of classes on basic nutrition, food safety, and food resource management. The purpose of this page is to help maintain a connection between us and the community, providing up to date knowledge and local and national nutrition news of interest.

Sadly, federal funding for SNAP-Ed ends today, September 30, 2025, following the passage of H.R.1. In Rhode Island, we are fortunate to have unspent funds that will be used to gradually wind down programs, create sustainable resources for future community use, and support partners and Rhode Islanders for a bit longer.
