Infrared saunas have been coming up everywhere lately,
in conversations with friends, with guests at the spa, and in my own wellness routines.

And it makes sense, infrared sauna therapy isn’t just a wellness luxury anymore, it’s a research-supported practice with measurable benefits for skin health, stress reduction, and long-term vitality.

At Citron, we don’t view infrared sauna as a stand-alone service.
We see it as a regulating ritual that supports the skin and the nervous system, creating the foundation where facials, massage, nutrition, movement, and lifestyle habits work more effectively together.

In our latest blog, I break down:

• how infrared sauna supports circulation + collagen
• why stress regulation is essential for healthy skin
• the role of heat, detoxification, and inflammation
• how to pair sauna with facials, nutrition, and movement
• and how often it truly makes a difference

In winter, skin thrives with barrier-supporting hydration, gentle renewal, and targeted healthy-aging support, when dry indoor heat and cold weather takes its toll.

If your skin is feeling dry, dull, or depleted, winter is the perfect time to slow down and nourish deeply, inside and out.

Save this for your winter skin care reset.

One thing I’ve learned from years of working with skin is that winter dryness and visible aging almost always go hand in hand.

The barrier always needs more support during colder months.

Healthy aging doesn't mean we need to worry about reversing time or that our fine lines are something we should try to hide. Helping your skin feel nourished, resilient, and able to thrive in a radiant healthy way, at any age is the goal.

I wrote a new blog sharing how we approach winter skin care, including:
• Why skin feels drier and more reactive in winter
• How to support hydration, healthy aging, and renewal without overdoing it
• The treatments and products I personally rely on this season

Ancient spa rituals were built on heat, nurturing touch, and taking time for unhurried care.

That part hasn’t changed. What has changed is how we experience those elements.

We kept:
• Heat as the foundation
• Nurturing touch as therapy
• Nourishing skin care as essential wellness care

We changed:
• Shared spaces → private (unless intentionally curated private event)
• Stimulating → quiet and restorative
• One-size-fits-all → personalized

Modern boutique spa care is simply a refinement of ancient ritual.

If you’ve ever stepped into a warm spa room, got comfortable on the treatment table, and felt soothing, slow nurturing hands on your skin, and thought, “Why does this feel so deeply calming?”; there’s a reason.

Long before modern spa culture, heat, touch, steam, and skin care were essential forms of care across ancient civilizations. These rituals weren’t about indulgence, they were about restoration.

What you’re responding to isn’t a trend. Your body remembers and longs for warmth, being cared for in a slow nurturing way, and healing that isn't rushed.

How to bring the spa ritual lifestyle into your own daily life:

Begin with warmth:
A eucalyptus or lemon steam shower or bath, relaxing sauna, or heated towel signals the body to downshift.

Nourishing skin and body care
Protect your skin from outside elements; apply nutrient dense skincare and warm herbal body oils, using slow rhythmic massage.

Use steam intentionally:
Botanical facial steam or warm compresses help prepare the skin for healthy skin care and relax the body.

Close with nourishment:
A warm herbal tea or mineral-rich drink continues the ritual internally.

Even a few minutes focused on your wellness can change how your body feels for the rest of the day.

If you’re heading into the new year feeling excited for growth and aware of what needs to shift, this episode is your roadmap.

On Nourish to Flourish, I break down how to create a New Year strategy that helps move the needle inside a boutique spa without burning out the CEO or overwhelming the team.

Inside the episode, you’ll learn how to:

- Review last year with intention
(gather what worked, what needs refining, what felt heavy)

- Choose your top 3 priorities
(so your energy stays focused and your decisions stay aligned)

- Translate goals into systems
(onboarding plans, retention pathways, marketing calendars, protocols)

- Ground yourself in CEO self-care
(because your clarity, presence & energy shape the culture)

- Bring your team into the mission
(host a strategy reflection meeting)

Bonus: I created a Reflection + Review Worksheet to help you clarify your wins, challenges & priorities, and bring your team into the vision.

Comment “STRATEGY” and I’ll send you the worksheet link.

Where do spa rituals really come from?

Long before modern spa menus, cultures around the world used heat, steam, nurturing touch, and skin care as essential forms of care.

In our latest blog, we explore:

- The ancient origins of sauna and steam rituals
- How heat prepared the body for massage and skin care
- Why warm towels, oils, and touch were central to healing
- How these traditions inspired today’s modern boutique spa experiences

At Citron, many of the rituals we offer, from private infrared sauna sessions to body treatments, facial massage, warm towels, and nourishing teas, are rooted in ancient traditions, and curated into a modern boutique experience.

If you’re curious about the why behind the rituals we love, this is a beautiful read.
