Try the 4-7-8 Breathing Technique
When anxiety feels like it’s taking over, this simple breath pattern can be your anchor:
Breathe in for 4 counts
Hold for 7 countsExhale slowly for 8 counts
Repeat 3-4 times and notice how your nervous system begins to calm. This technique activates your body’s natural relaxation response, slowing your heart rate and quieting racing thoughts.
Your breath is always with you - a powerful tool for finding peace in any storm. You don’t need anything else, just this moment and your ability to breathe deeply 🌿

Infertility is full of contradictions. You can hold onto hope and feel completely devastated. You can advocate for yourself and feel exhausted by the process. You can feel grateful for what you have and still long deeply for what hasn’t happened yet.

If you’re in the thick of fertility treatments, you’re not “too emotional” or “too negative.” You’re human. And this path is incredibly hard.

As a therapist, I often remind clients: there’s no “right” way to feel — just honest ways to feel. Give yourself permission to be a paradox.

Those “little things” might not be so little after all 🤍

Your body has been trying to tell you something. That tight feeling in your chest during meetings, the way you’ve been putting off that phone call for weeks, or how you lie awake replaying conversations from three days ago.
Anxiety doesn’t always announce itself with panic attacks. Sometimes it whispers through.

Grief is not something that ever fully resolves. I’m not sure why we believe it does. It’s something we must learn to accept that is with us forever. The intensity softens over time, but it’s never gone.

Grief is not only mourning a death. It’s a divorce. A child we never conceived. I job loss that changed our lives. A move away from loved ones. It can be a time of our lives that we have to accept has passed. Grief is mourning the disability of a child. Or being displaced from your biological family. Grief can come in facing the truth.

If therapy does nothing else, it gives you a place to unburden yourself from the load you’re carrying. cred:

My first patient when I opened my private practice in Chicago was a woman who had experienced 8 consecutive miscarriages. She had just received the news of her 9th positive pregnancy test and for the first time in the process said she felt no hope or joy. She taught me so much about the cumulative effects of traumatic loss. Even when things start to go right, the loss shapes subsequent pregnancies moving forward. Her strength and devastation, existing in the same moment, were so profound.
