✨ Celebrating Excellence: Dr. Sara Schmelkin, PT, DPT, OCS ✨

Dr. Sara Schmelkin joined Highbar in June 2023, bringing more than a decade of physical therapy experience and a passion for patient care, education, and positivity to our Plainville team.

Over the last year and a half, she set out to earn her Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) certification, while also becoming a newlywed and first-time homeowner. With resilience and support, she achieved her goal.

💬 “I never gave up on this year-and-a-half journey and I accomplished my goals. The support of my husband, my whole family, and my Highbar family truly helped me cross the finish line.”

Student Spotlight: Justin Salvatore

Every now and then, a student comes through who reminds you why we do this work. Why mentorship matters. Why learning never really stops.

Justin Salvatore Husson University DPT student and athlete, brought that spirit into every moment. On the field, he balanced classes with baseball, earning spots on the North Atlantic Conference All-Sportsmanship Team and All-Academic Team while making contributions across four seasons.

In the clinic, he brought the same grit and heart: reminding us that PT isn’t just about progressing exercises but also knowing when to pause. He was candid about the tough “breakup talks” with patients, and he could make the whole team laugh with stories about the high-pressure art of the “speed pillow.”

His time with us was short, but his impact stays with everyone who knew him.
