We are honored to be the 2023 recipient of the Achievement in Equity Award from the National Consortium on Racial and Ethnic Fairness in the Courts. Thank you to the RI Judiciary and Judge Melissa DuBose for the nomination!
Partnering with the Committee on Racial and Ethnic Fairness in the Courts in RI is setting a national model of what can be achieved when community and our systems come together to transform lives. You made space and time to listen to the directly impacted,
and then you acted! To date, nearly $2.5 million in court fines and fees have been remitted for Rhode Islanders!

As part of our education and training efforts to transform RI's justice system, we have begun hosting Reentry Simulation Trainings as unique, hands-on opportunities for stakeholders to learn about the reentry process in RI for community members returning from prison. Gov. McKee and other RI State leaders joined us for our latest simulation last week. If you're interested in future simulations (either hosting one for your organization, participating in one, or being a volunteer), please email info@healthandjustice.org.

What to do for your next staff retreat?

Big thank you to Wendy Garvin Mayo, APRN, ANP-BC and the Stress Blueprint for hosting our team retreat today! We dove in deep and thoughfully in a safe and supported way into stress management and our emotional intelligence quotient. We left with tools and a deeper sense of community with one another. This propels us and our org to be our highest and best selves for each other and the communities we serve. Do yourself a favor and invest in your team's personal and professional development! Thanks to Ellen Liberman of Rhode Island Monthly for highlighting how transformative our community court debt relief clinics have been for justice-involved Rhode Islanders saddled with court fines and fees.
