AIDS Care Ocean State

ACOS is Rhode Island's largest HIV/AIDS service agency. We provide full-circle care to those in the community who are living with HIV/AIDS.

We offer free, confidential HIV testing, case management, housing resources, educational services including a Speaker's Bureau, street outreach, Hepatitis C testing, Hepatitis A (HAV) and Hepatitis B (HAB) vaccinations, advocacy, prevention programs, and more.

During the awards portion of the Gala we will present the Paul Fitzgerald Lifetime Achievement Award to Director of the HIV, Provision of Care & Special Populations, Paul Loberti, Community Service Award to dedicated volunteer Kenny Sondler, and the Philanthropist of the Year Award to Sir Thomas Matt.

Newport approved a Public Health Dispensing Machine for a one-year pilot program on Jan 14. The machine will require a client code in order to provide resources and life-saving measures for those in need, including those who are homeless. Kwanzaa is an annual celebration of African-American culture from December 26th to January 1st, culminating in a communal feast called Karamu, usually on the sixth day. It was created by activist Maulana Karenga, based on African harvest festival traditions from various parts of West and Southeast Africa. Have a happy and safe rest of your holiday season!
