Meet Finn, one of Rhode Island Hospital's volunteer dog-tors! Finn and his human, Steven Barter, a Gateway Healthcare employee, visit Rhode Island Hospital regularly to help bring a smile to patients and staff alike.

Steven and Finn make a point to include the emergency department in their rounds. “I’m very comfortable in the ER—it’s where I work—so I bring him there, too,” Steven said. “Patients and staff are always happy to see him. It’s not easy being in a hospital, so I try to help brighten the day just a little.”

When he's not working, Finn likes to collect rocks. “He digs up rocks outside," says Steven, "and he keeps them. He hovers over them and protects them. If you try to take it, he'll guard it. If I do get a rock, I'll throw it, and he'll go get the rock and bring it back."

Thank you Finn and Steven for bringing joy to the hospitals!
