During NICU Awareness Month, we welcomed back someone very special to our Women & Infants family: Gabriela Paulino, Miss Rhode Island Junior Teen 2025–2026.

Born at just 28 weeks, Gabriela spent six weeks in our NICU overcoming incredible odds. Through her nonprofit, Tiniest Fighters, Gabriela donated 225 items to comfort premature infants and their families.

We are so grateful to Gabriela for her generosity and for inspiring others with her story.

Congratulations to our latest BEE Winner: Angelica.

This honor is given to hospital support staff who deliver excellent patient care – but Angelica went one step further. She was nominated for her kindness, patience, and support while training a new co-worker.

Angelica not only took the time to ensure everything was done correctly for the benefit of patients but also showed incredible compassion during a difficult moment in her colleague’s life.

Twin sisters Tania and Talia Santos began their journey here as premature babies cared for by neonatal nurses. Today, they’ve come full circle—working side by side in the very same NICU, supporting families through some of the most challenging and hopeful moments of their lives.

Nearly 1,000 swimmers made waves in Narragansett for the 16th Annual Swim Across America - Rhode Island.

Since 2010, this inspiring event has raised nearly $3 million for cancer research, directly benefiting the Women’s Oncology Program at Women & Infants Hospital. This year, participants raised more than $277,000, bringing the event closer to its $325,000 goal. Thank you to all who supported this cause.

Some symptoms to watch for include:

• Pelvic or back pain
